The Municipal Government of Atizapán de Zaragoza, State of Mexico, equipped the Dr. Salvador González Herrejón General Hospital with a telemedicine “trolley” for remote patient care and management.
The DIF Municipal System managed and donated this telemedicine system, which includes a video camera and Internet connection for remote medical care of patients through teleconsultation.
The objective of having a device of this kind is to improve the provision of services in the hospital and also to train health personnel in the new technologies available.
“It is a great pleasure for me to join forces, we hope that this action will become a spearhead for many institutions to start using this type of device. We want Atizapán to be a modern municipality, starting with the equipment of the Hospital. In the short term we plan to implement technology in the services we offer in the Municipality”, said the municipal president Pedro Rodríguez Villegas.
The new device is a computer equipped with a high-definition webcam to improve patient care and also to conduct consultations with other professionals from a distance. In addition, it has a monitor that can change orientation depending on what the teleconsultation requires.
Likewise, one of the most important functions of the telemedicine device is the ease involved in its transfer to different hospital rooms and offices.
The general director of the hospital, Joel Sabas Rodríguez Sánchez, thanked the implementation of this innovative tool: "Sometimes we do not have these technological tools, but the donation will allow us to provide greater benefits to the population, and offer higher quality services."
