Ministry of Health of Ecuador enables open digital platform for data on COVID-19

The Ministry of Public Health (MSP), of Ecuador, launched a new digital platform called "COVID-19 Epidemiological Data", which shows epidemiological information and advances in vaccination in the country.

On December 22, the MSP presented a new platform to provide access to data on COVID-19, such as the progress of vaccination, confirmed infections and deaths. This tool will facilitate the tasks of researchers and communicators to review and consult relevant data on the health emergency in Ecuador.

In addition, the MSP is committed to data transparency and opening this information to the population, since it will be possible to consult the historical data of the pandemic in the country.

Health Minister Ximena Garzón explained that the platform will be updated periodically so that users can access the data. This information was confirmed by Meitner Cadena, National Director of Statistics of the MSP, who explained that the update will be carried out on Wednesdays and also added that the security of the information reflected in the portal is guaranteed.

The development of the platform was part of a joint effort between three departments of the MSP: Statistics, Surveillance and Technology.

This new tool joins the Vacuometer, another of the platforms enabled by the MSP during the pandemic, which offers detailed information on the immunization processes in Ecuador at the provincial and cantonal levels, by priority or vulnerable groups, and more.

The platform can be consulted at the following link:
