The Territorial Health Directorate of Caldas and Telesalud of the University of Caldas will provide virtual certification to medical personnel in charge of the vaccination process in the region.
Telesalud of the University of Caldas and the Territorial Health Directorate have implemented throughout the COVID-19 pandemic a series of telemedicine strategies to provide remote medical care strategies, tele-education on COVID-19 issues, as well as remote monitoring to follow the evolution of people who tested positive for COVID-19. This year, after the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines in Colombia, the mass vaccination process has begun, so Telesalud has created a virtual certification plan for those in charge of immunization in the department of Caldas.
"The training aims to teach about aspects such as: handling of biological and its generalities, administration, management of adverse reactions and notification of ESAVI in the department," explains the university. The vice Director of Public Health of the Health Territory, Lorena Gómez Giraldo, explained that the course provides a regulatory framework for vaccination, which seeks to ensure that the process in the department is carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Colombian Ministry of Health.
After taking and completing the virtual course, professionals will be certified by the University of Caldas. "The training is 100% virtual and created by expert professionals with extensive experience in vaccination, and who have been trained in the new challenges of COVID-19 and the particularities of vaccines," explained the deputy director.
Esteban Granada Aguirre, Director of Telesalud, highlighted the importance of the collaboration between the Government of Caldas and the University of Caldas to obtain an official certification. "With this course they are certified as official COVID vaccinators for the department of Caldas and being a virtual modality course guarantees that any professional in the department can access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be certified."
