ISSSTE Financial restructuring and priority equipment considers telemedicine equipment for remote consultations

The Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE) strengthened the world-class system of care, including telemedicine services

THE ISSSTE was endorsed by the board of directors to make an investment of 5,389 million pesos to equip 140 medical units. This investment seeks to expand and restructure hospital equipment and infrastructure that has been used for more than 50 years.

In this way, as part of the strengthening of the health infrastructure, the Telemedicine system will have 174 new equipment for the strengthening of remote care, through teleconsultes in 15 of the specialties and sub specialties with the greatest demand: cardiology, neurology, urology, traumatology and orthopedics, gynecology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, dermatology, otolaryngology, medical and surgical oncology, hematology, gastroenterology and rheumatology.

This improvement plans to provide better services to rightholders living in remote locations as they will link their medical centers with 14 Regional Hospitals and the National Medical Center (CMN) 20 de noviembre.

Prior to the restructuring, ISSSTE had 174 telemedicine equipment, and the projection was to reach 355 teams in two years, so the projection is close to being fulfilled. In July 2019, it was announced that THE ISSSTE telemedicine system and the training by this institute to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) was announced in the implementation of its telemedicine service.

Luis Antonio Ramírez, CEO of ISSSTE, said telemedicine "simplifies procedures, reduces waiting times in appointment scheduling, optimizes the use of highly skilled human resources, and increases the resolution capacity of general, regional hospitals and the CMN "20 de noviembre," while patients receive the care of a specialist at the right and right time."
