Entre Ríos Province in Argentina applies telehealth tools to strengthen its response to COVID-19

Currently all departments in the province of Entre Ríos have tools for the development of telehealth services, through 44 hospitals and 66 health centers.

The coronavirus pandemic forced the authorities of Argentina's Entre Ríos province to carry out an operational and strategic plan to contain contagions and provide timely medical care.

Faced with the complex outlook, the authorities intensified the use of digital platforms to track hospital care, resulting in a network of hospitals, primary care facilities and even private health services. In May there were 17 centers of Telehealth and Distance Communication, and currently there are 117 centers that function as a link between the population and hospitals.

This tool is present in all health regions of the province. This facilitates communication and benefits the overall strategy being carried out in Entre Ríos.

To date, there are 44 hospitals, 66 primary care centers, four health agencies, two private hospital services and the Provincial Directorate of Epidemiology, the institutions that are part of this telehealth network.

Claudio Maidana, holder in the province of Entre Ríos at Telehealth and Distance Communication in Entre Ríos, explained what the adaptation process has been like "In May of this year TeleCovid is implemented, as a federal strategy that provides effectors with a cybersecurity platform to record remote care or follow-ups made to suspicious or confirmed COVID-19 patients and their close contacts , without hospital detention criteria”.

Maidana explained that this system strengthens and complements the care provided in the health services of the institutions that use this resource, and that they record all the medical care that is performed through technologies, regardless of those directly related to COVID-19,” the official explained.

In this way Entre Ríos is taking advantage of the progress made by the health emergency to continue improving its health services and maintain a path to telehealth best practices.
