The speakers were Marcos Espinal, Director of PAHO's Department of Communicable Diseases and Health Analysis, Anal\u00eda Baum, Director General of Health Information Systems of the City of Buenos Aires, Jagpreet Chhatwal, Harvard Medical School, Luis Tejerina, IDB Social Sector Specialist and Sameer Pujari, Expert in Digital Health by WHO (World Health Organization).<\/p>

The main theme was COVID-19: Artificial Intelligence for the Digital Transformation of the Health Sector. <\/strong>Marcos Espinal explained of the risks of waiting for a vaccine on a virus that is still being learned and emphasized implementing measures for virus mitigation: \u201cWe need to ensure we implement actions or measures aiming to mitigate or slow the advance of this pandemic, there are two type of measures: containment measures and mitigation measures, that helps to flatten the curve as we see initially in New Zealand, Australia or Europe. We still learning about this virus.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cWe are working, so that when the vaccine is ready it will be accessible to everyone,\u201d he said. It also recognized the importance of economic support packages for families during the pandemic.<\/p>

Alina Baum, responded on the importance of AI: \u201cThe potential of artificial intelligence for the state is to integrate the data sources of conditions of employment, housing, water, sanitation, education, employability, along with health variables, in order to identify which people might have the highest risk of disease and less chance of accessing the health system , and in the context of COVID-19 lower conditions of isolating during the pandemic.\u201d<\/p>

The IDB representative, Luis Tejerina, agreed on the use of AI for the creation of databases: \u201cGenerate ordered databases with interoperability will allow us to see different socioeconomic variables that are determinants of health, an urban map that tells you where you have conditions that can be decisive to have negative effects on the health of the population\u201d.<\/p>

Especialistas en Salud Digital compartieron experiencias sobre la aplicaci\u00f3n de IA en salud y su potencial en el contexto actual. Este semanario web que fue parte de la serie de eventos virtuales \u201cCompartir-Escuchar-Actuar, COVID-19: El potencial de la Salud Digital y los Sistemas de Informaci\u00f3n para la Salud (IS4H) en la lucha contra la pandemia\u201d, impulsado por la Organizaci\u00f3n Panamericana de la Salud, cont\u00f3 con la experiencia de especialistas en Salud Digital y sistemas de informaci\u00f3n de diversos organismos de la regi\u00f3n. Los ponentes fueron Marcos Espinal, director del Departamento de Enfermedades Transmisibles y An\u00e1lisis de Salud de la OPS, Anal\u00eda Baum, Directora General de Sistemas de Informaci\u00f3n Sanitaria de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Jagpreet Chhatwal, de Harvard Medical School, Luis Tejerina, especialista en sector social del BID y Sameer Pujari, experto en Salud Digital por parte de la OMS (Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud). El tema principal fue COVID-19: Inteligencia Artificial para la transformaci\u00f3n digital del sector salud. Marcos Espinal, explic\u00f3 sobre los riesgos de esperar a una vacuna sobre un virus del cual se sigue aprendiendo e hizo \u00e9nfasis en implementar medidas para la mitigaci\u00f3n del virus: \u201cNecesitamos asegurarnos de implementar acciones o medidas destinadas a mitigar o frenar el avance de esta pandemia. Hay dos tipos de medidas, mesas de contenci\u00f3n y medidas de mitigaci\u00f3n que ayudan a aplanar la curva como vemos inicialmente en Nueva Zelanda, Australia o Europa. Todav\u00eda estamos aprendiendo sobre este virus\u201d. \u201cEstamos trabajando, para que cuando est\u00e9 lista la vacuna sea accesible para todos\u201d coment\u00f3. Adem\u00e1s, reconoci\u00f3 la importancia de los paquetes de apoyo econ\u00f3mico a las familias durante la pandemia.
