In addition, these <em>wearables<\/em> are regularly connected to smartphones, allowing to collect demographic data and perform a symptom monitoring on users.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-c1e7579 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default wpr-particle-no wpr-jarallax-no wpr-parallax-no as has happened in the UK with its <a href=\"https:\/\/saluddigital.com\/comunidades-conectadas\/uso-de-plataformas-digitales-permitio-identificar-casos-de-covid-19-masivamente-entre-la-poblacion\/\"><em>COVID Symptom Study<\/em><\/a> application that allowed to identify mass contagions and more frequent symptoms. \u00a0<\/p><p>In the study called: <em>Assessment of physiological signs associated with COVID-19 measured using wearable devices <\/em>que se encuentra en proceso de <em>peer review <\/em>data were collected from 1,181 patients with active SARS-CoV-2 virus infection between 21 May and 14 July this year.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Researchers trained a logistic regression classifier to predict the possible need for hospitalization of patients, according to the symptoms experienced, age, sex, and Body Mass Index (BMI). They then trained a neural network classifier to predict on specific days whether a person is sick by measuring their breathing rate and heart rate variability data for that day and the previous four days.<\/p><p>Of the above patients 11% had no symptoms, 47.2% recovered at home without specific treatment and 33.2% recovered at home with the help of another person. For inpatients 8.16% of patients required hospitalization without artificial respiration and 0.44% required a ventilator.<\/p><p>Regarding symptoms experienced by patients, 54% developed a fever. Por estas razones los dispositivos inteligentes, sean pulseras o tel\u00e9fonos, juegan un papel importante en la investigaci\u00f3n y en la toma de decisiones por parte de autoridades sanitarias, como ha ocurrido en Reino Unido con su aplicaci\u00f3n COVID Symptom Study que permiti\u00f3 identificar contagios masivos y s\u00edntomas m\u00e1s frecuentes. &nbsp; En el estudio denominado: Evaluaci\u00f3n de los signos fisiol\u00f3gicos asociados con COVID-19 medidos con wearables que se encuentra en proceso de peer review o revisi\u00f3n por pares, se recopilaron datos de 1,181 pacientes con infecci\u00f3n activa por virus SARS-CoV-2 entre el 21 de mayo y 14 de julio de este a\u00f1o. Los investigadores entrenaron un clasificador de regresi\u00f3n log\u00edstica para predecir la posible necesidad de hospitalizaci\u00f3n de pacientes, de acuerdo a los s\u00edntomas experimentados, edad, sexo, e \u00cdndice de Masa Corporal (IMC). Posteriormente entrenaron un clasificador de redes neuronales para predecir en d\u00edas espec\u00edficos si una persona est\u00e1 enferma al medir su frecuencia respiratoria y datos de variabilidad de la frecuencia cardiaca de ese d\u00eda y los cuatro d\u00edas previos. De los pacientes mencionados anteriormente 11% no presentaron s\u00edntomas, el 47.2% se recuperaron en casa sin tratamiento espec\u00edfico y el 33.2% se recuperaron en casa con ayuda de otra persona. En cuanto a pacientes hospitalizados el 8.16% de los pacientes requiri\u00f3 hospitalizaci\u00f3n sin respiraci\u00f3n artificial y un 0.44% requiri\u00f3 ventilador. Respecto a los s\u00edntomas experimentados por los pacientes, el 54% present\u00f3 fiebre. Finalmente, de acuerdo a los datos que los pacientes registraron sobre sus s\u00edntomas obtuvieron, un AUC (\u00e1rea bajo la curva) de .077 +\/- 0.05 para la predicci\u00f3n de necesidad de hospitalizaci\u00f3n y de acuerdo a los datos fisiol\u00f3gicos recopilados por el dispositivo y obtuvieron un AUC de 0.77 +\/- 0.03 para la predicci\u00f3n de enfermedad en d\u00eda espec\u00edfico. En conclusi\u00f3n, los investigadores Aravind Natarajan, Hao-Wei Su y Conor Heneghan consideran que las m\u00e9tricas y los dispositivos utilizados para este estudio pueden ayudar a conocer un diagn\u00f3stico temprano de la enfermedad, ya que el ritmo cardiaco y el ritmo respiratorio se eleva debido a la enfermedad mientras que la variabilidad de frecuencia cardiaca desciende.
