El \u00e9xito del enfoque utilizado en este estudio se debi\u00f3 a la incorporaci\u00f3n de hidrogeles m\u00e1s blandos que contuvieran las c\u00e9lulas madre en los poros de las estructuras traqueales impresas. A pesar de tratarse de un estudio preliminar, Anthony Atala, director del WFIRM y tambi\u00e9n coautor de la investigaci\u00f3n, conf\u00eda que en un futuro se podr\u00e1n aprovechar los tratamientos de medicina regenerativa para reemplazar enteramente zonas traqueales afectadas por enfermedades o incluso accidentes.
