Thermy, the name of this software, is a tool that works through a thermal camera that captures images of patients' breasts. When capturing the image, it is analyzed through an artificial intelligence system. The system is trained through images; there are cancer cells that cause the flow of blood to rise and increase the temperature in those areas, therefore, through heat it is possible to detect them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The photograph should be taken at a distance of a meter and a half, and it could be done in a dark room to offer greater privacy for the patient.<\/p>

Thermy is in operation from the Breast Cancer Foundation (FUCAM) facility, where data from more than 3,000 patients have been collected.<\/p>

Jan Andr\u00e9 Merino, co-creator of the system, commented that Thermy does not represent a substitute for mastography, but a tool for diagnosis, especially for women under the age of 40, as mastography is recommended to women aged 40 and up. And more than 15% of breast cancer cases in Mexico are women under 40, making it an ideal alternative for women of that age range.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Thermy is in the process of acquiring health certification from the Federal Commission for the Protection of Health Risks (Cofepris). And after this Merino said that they expect to launch a commercial version that works through a computer or smartphone to make it easily accessible in remote areas, without the need for sophisticated systems.<\/p>

Estudiantes mexicanos crearon una prueba termogr\u00e1fica capaz de detectar c\u00e1ncer de mama utilizando una c\u00e1mara t\u00e9rmica. Thermy, como nombraron al software, es una herramienta que funciona a trav\u00e9s de una c\u00e1mara t\u00e9rmica que captura im\u00e1genes del pecho de las pacientes, al capturar la imagen, esta es analizada a trav\u00e9s de un sistema de inteligencia artificial. La fotograf\u00eda debe tomarse a una distancia de metro y medio, presentemente en un cuarto oscuro para ofrecer mayor privacidad para la paciente. Thermy se encuentra en operaci\u00f3n desde las instalaciones de la Fundaci\u00f3n C\u00e1ncer de Mama (FUCAM), donde se han recolectado datos de m\u00e1s de 3 mil pacientes. Jan Andr\u00e9 Merino, cocreador del sistema, coment\u00f3 que Thermy no representa un sustituto para las mastograf\u00edas, sino una herramienta para el diagn\u00f3stico, especialmente para mujeres menores de 40 a\u00f1os, ya que las mastograf\u00edas est\u00e1n recomendadas a mujeres de 40 a\u00f1os en adelante. Y m\u00e1s de 15% de los casos de c\u00e1ncer de mama en M\u00e9xico son mujeres menores de 40, por lo que es una alternativa ideal para mujeres de ese rango de edad. Thermy se encuentra en proceso de adquirir la certificaci\u00f3n sanitaria por parte de la Comisi\u00f3n Federal para la Protecci\u00f3n contra Riesgos Sanitarios (Cofepris). Y posterior a esto Merino indica que se espera lanzar una versi\u00f3n comercial que funcione a trav\u00e9s de una computadora o tel\u00e9fono inteligente para que sea de f\u00e1cil acceso en zonas alejadas, sin necesidad de contar con sistemas sofisticados.
