PAHO, in collaboration with various partners, offered a webinar for nearly a thousand virtual assistants, during the session doubts were resolved and suggestions were made about the progress of Digital Health in the region. <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In early June, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) launched a series of webinars called Share-Listen-Act, addressing the use of Digital Health and Information Systems for Health (IS4H) and its potential to fight the pandemic. The webinar answered some questions about the use of digital systems and information technologies to deal with COVID-19 from a variety of approaches.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

One of the questions raised was about the importance of geolocation tools during the pandemic, as some countries have used these systems in quarantine management to identify areas at risk of contagion through Contact tracing tools<\/em>. In addition to these measures, PAHO suggests integration in conjunction with self-implemented COVID-19 testing tools to identify possible outbreaks and levels of contagion risk.<\/p>

Another issue was the role of telemedicine in the post-COVID-19 world, services that, despite being in force for years, this year became more important because of the global health situation. So, telehealth, it must go its way as additional support to public health systems.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On the other hand, one of the central themes within Digital Health is how to offer medical care through digital platforms to population without internet access. PAHO suggests that it is important to detect existing channels and measure them for effective use. Likewise, Digital Health not only works for devices with internet connection, digital platforms must be created taking into account the limitations of infrastructure on the Internet in different populations, one option are mobile phones, telephone networks, among others. The use of IS4H is one of the most detailed proposals on Digital Health issues not just for PAHO but for the World Health Organization. However, specific technological infrastructure is required for your application. Following questions on this issue, PAHO resumed the actions taken earlier, when in 2019 the Plan of Action to Strengthening IS4H was approved, which proposed strategic lines of action that support the implementation of these systems to drive actions of Member States to improve their health systems, and which are capable of operating in an interconnected and interoperable manner. This strategy has four lines of action: Management and governance of information systems, Data management and information technology, Information and knowledge management, Innovation, Integration and Convergence. Finally, PAHO recognizes that Digital Health is not by itself a solution, but a mechanism to address different challenges and problems in health systems, through its various tools is where the continuous improvement of health services will be found.<\/p>

La OPS, en colaboraci\u00f3n con diversos socios, ofrecieron un webinar para casi mil asistentes virtuales, durante la sesi\u00f3n se resolvieron dudas y se hicieron sugerencias sobre el progreso de la Salud Digital en la regi\u00f3n. A principios de junio la Organizaci\u00f3n Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), y el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) lanzaron una serie de webinar llamada Comparte-Escucha-Act\u00faa (Share-Listen-Act), en el que se abord\u00f3 el uso de Salud Digital y los Sistemas de Informaci\u00f3n para la Salud (IS4H) y su potencial para enfrentar la pandemia. En el webinar se respondieron algunas preguntas sobre la utilizaci\u00f3n de sistemas digitales y tecnolog\u00edas de la informaci\u00f3n para enfrentar al COVID-19 desde enfoques diversos. Una de las preguntas planteadas fue sobre la importancia de herramientas de geolocalizaci\u00f3n durante la pandemia, ya que algunos pa\u00edses han utilizado estos sistemas en el manejo de la cuarentena para identificar zonas con riesgo de contagio a trav\u00e9s de contact tracing. Adicional a estas medidas la OPS sugiere la integraci\u00f3n en conjunto con herramientas de pruebas de COVID-19 auto aplicadas, para conocer posibles brotes y niveles de riesgo de contagio. \u00a0 Otro de los temas fue el rol de la telemedicina en el mundo post COVID-19, servicios que, a pesar de estar vigentes desde hace a\u00f1os, este a\u00f1o cobraron mayor importancia por la situaci\u00f3n mundial en salud. Por lo que la telesalud, debe seguir su camino como apoyo adicional a los sistemas de salud p\u00fablicos. Por otra parte, uno de los temas centrales dentro de la Salud Digital es, c\u00f3mo ofrecer atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a trav\u00e9s de plataformas digitales a poblaci\u00f3n sin acceso a internet. La OPS sugiere que es importante detectar los canales existentes y medirlos para usarlos efectivamente. Asimismo, la Salud Digital no solo funciona para dispositivos con conexi\u00f3n a internet, las plataformas digitales deben ser creadas teniendo en cuenta las limitaciones de infraestructura en Internet en las distintas poblaciones, una opci\u00f3n son los tel\u00e9fonos m\u00f3viles, redes telef\u00f3nicas, entre otras.\u00a0 El BID public\u00f3 un estudio al respecto, puedes consultarlo haciendo clic aqu\u00ed. La utilizaci\u00f3n de IS4H es una de las propuestas m\u00e1s detalladas en temas de Salud Digital no solo de la OPS sino de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud. Sin embargo, para su aplicaci\u00f3n se requiere infraestructura tecnol\u00f3gica espec\u00edfica. Tras los cuestionamientos sobre este tema la OPS retom\u00f3 las acciones realizadas anteriormente, cuando en 2019 fue aprobado el Plan de Acci\u00f3n para Fortalecer los IS4H en el que se propusieron l\u00edneas de acci\u00f3n estrat\u00e9gicas que apoyan la aplicaci\u00f3n de estos sistemas para impulsar acciones de los Estados Miembros a mejorar sus sistemas de salud, y que sean capaces de operar de manera interconectada e interoperable. Esta estrategia cuenta con cuatro l\u00edneas de acci\u00f3n: Gesti\u00f3n y gobernanza de los sistemas de informaci\u00f3n, Gesti\u00f3n de datos y tecnolog\u00edas de la informaci\u00f3n, Informaci\u00f3n y gesti\u00f3n del conocimiento, Innovaci\u00f3n, integraci\u00f3n y convergencia.
