Dr. Steffen H\u00e4rtel, a specialist in Digital Health, explains the challenges and advances that exist in the Andean country in Telehealth. <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Chile has several projects in Digital Health promoted by universities such as the Telemedicine Unit of the University of Concepci\u00f3n, as well as programs promoted by the Ministry of Health such as the Digital Hospital.<\/p>

In addition, in December of last year the article \"Guidelines for the development of Telemedicine and Telehealth in Chile\" was published, mandated by the Ministry of Health and prepared by the University of Development, the University of Concepci\u00f3n and UC Davis in Chile.<\/p>

Steffen H\u00e4rtel, specialist in Health Informatics, is the director of the Center for Medical Informatics and Telemedicine at the University of Chile (CIMT), and also chairman of the committee of academics of the National Center for Health Information Systems (CENS), gave his opinion on this.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

He mentions that the health system has chosen to educate future generations of health professionals according to the digital system and the skills they must have to respond to new Digital Health tools.<\/p>

As for his area of work, the CIMT, Dr. H\u00e4rtel recognizes that there are several projects in Chile where they can see the progress that telemedicine has had in recent years. One of these projects is the telepathologies project, which allows to monitor biopsy samples remotely, and new projects such as digital spermogram teleanalysis that seeks to bring support couples with infertility problems.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Regarding the increasing use of telemedicine by the health emergency, in Chile this system has been implemented through the Digital Hospital that has been operating for several years and is managed by the Ministry of Health, in addition to remotely caring for patients with symptoms to channel them to a medical center.<\/p>

Following the emergency situation in COVID-19, progress has been made in this process of adopting telemedicine, Dr. H\u00e4rtel says that \"we are seeing how to build radiology systems with radiology support to help identify patients with respiratory problems quickly.\"<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El Dr. Steffen H\u00e4rtel, especialista en Salud Digital, explica los retos y avances que existen en el pa\u00eds andino en Telesalud. Chile cuenta con diversos proyectos en Salud Digital impulsados por universidades como la Unidad de Telemedicina de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, adem\u00e1s de programas fomentados por el Ministerio de Salud como el Hospital Digital. Adem\u00e1s, en diciembre del a\u00f1o pasado fue publicado el art\u00edculo “Lineamientos para el desarrollo de la Telemedicina y Telesalud en Chile”, mandatado por el Ministerio de Salud y elaborado por la Universidad del Desarrollo, la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n y la UC Davis en Chile. Steffen H\u00e4rtel, especialista en Inform\u00e1tica en Salud, quien es director del Centro de Inform\u00e1tica M\u00e9dica y Telemedicina de la Universidad de Chile (CIMT), y tambi\u00e9n presidente del comit\u00e9 de acad\u00e9micos del Centro Nacional en Sistemas de Informaci\u00f3n en Salud (CENS), dio su opini\u00f3n al respecto. El Dr. H\u00e4rtel, menciona que el sistema de salud ha optado por educar a las futuras generaciones de profesionales de la salud de acuerdo al sistema digital y las competencias que deben tener para responder ante las nuevas herramientas de Salud Digital. En cuanto a su \u00e1rea de trabajo el CIMT, el Dr. H\u00e4rtel reconoce que existen varios proyectos en Chile donde se puede observar el avance que ha tenido la telemedicina en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os. Uno de estos proyectos es el proyecto de tele patolog\u00edas, que permite observar las muestras de biopsias de manera remota, y se est\u00e1n desarrollando nuevos proyectos como el tele an\u00e1lisis de espermiograma digital que busca atender a parejas con problemas de infertilidad. Respecto al creciente uso de la telemedicina por la emergencia sanitaria, en Chile se ha implementado este sistema a trav\u00e9s del Hospital Digital que funciona desde hace varios a\u00f1os y es manejado por el Ministerio de Salud, adem\u00e1s de atender remotamente a pacientes con s\u00edntomas para canalizarlos a un centro m\u00e9dico. Tras la situaci\u00f3n de emergencia que se vive por el COVID-19 se han conocido avances en este proceso de adoptar a la telemedicina, el Dr. H\u00e4rtel afirma que \u201cestamos viendo c\u00f3mo levantar sistemas de radiolog\u00eda con apoyo de tele radiolog\u00eda para ayudar a identificar pacientes con problemas respiratorios de forma r\u00e1pida”.
