Following the social distancing and COVID-19 prevention measures in Peru, the National Institute of Mental Health Honorio Delgado-Hideyo Noguchi, offered its patients to continue their psychiatric sessions through digital telemedicine platforms.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Humberto Castillo, director general of the National Institute of Mental Health (INSM), considered that \"the period of social isolation by the COVID-19 crisis has led to an opportunity to innovate telematic mental health services as health care alternatives, which drive destigmatization and could radically change the vision of the medical consultation in mental health in the future.\"<\/p>

In addition to teleconsulting services, INSM also coordinates the delivery of medicines. To avoid rows and contact between patients, the processes are followed remotely to schedule an appointment at one of the three locations: Carabayllo, Comas and Rimac.<\/p>

Telehealth tools are being boosted in Peru following the state of emergency declared since the COVID-19 outbreak. M\u00e1s de 400 pacientes psiqui\u00e1tricos reciben atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a trav\u00e9s de videoconferencias o llamadas telef\u00f3nicas. Tras el confinamiento y las medidas de prevenci\u00f3n de contagios de COVID-19 en Per\u00fa, el Instituto Nacional de Salud Mental Honorio Delgado-Hideyo Noguchi, ofreci\u00f3 a sus pacientes continuar sus sesiones psiqui\u00e1tricas mediante plataformas digitales de telemedicina. Humberto Castillo, director general del Instituto Nacional de Salud Mental (INSM), consider\u00f3 que “el periodo de aislamiento social por la crisis del COVID-19 ha propiciado una oportunidad de innovar servicios telem\u00e1ticos de salud mental como alternativas de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica, que impulsan la desestigmatizaci\u00f3n y podr\u00eda cambiar radicalmente la visi\u00f3n de la consulta m\u00e9dica en salud mental en el futuro”. Adicionalmente a los servicios de teleconsultas, el INSM tambi\u00e9n coordina la entrega de medicamentos. Para evitar filas y contacto entre pacientes, se les da seguimiento remoto para agendar una cita en alguna de las tres sedes Carabayllo, Comas y R\u00edmac. Para acceder al este servicio los pacientes pueden pedir una cita v\u00eda telef\u00f3nica o de manera virtual a trav\u00e9s de http:\/\/www.insm.gob.pe\/ Las herramientas de telesalud est\u00e1n siendo impulsadas en Per\u00fa tras el estado de emergencia declarado por el brote de COVID-19. Incluso se ha promulgado un decreto que promueve y acepta el uso adecuado de este tipo de herramientas digitales.
