On April 10, Google and Apple announced the development of an API system for the fight against COVID-19.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Two of the most important technology companies came together to create an API (Application Programming Interface<\/em>), which will allow greater control for COVID-19 social distancing and contagion prevention measures in the world.<\/p>

The API will be integrated into the smartphones by updating their respective operating systems. In iOS 13.5 it was released on May 20, 2020, Android devices will receive the update through Google Play Services.<\/p>

The contact tracing system<\/em> will work like this, a user who is positive to COVID-19 can decide if they want to notify other users of a possible contact, non-infected users will receive a \"Exposure Notification\" a message indicating that they have been close to someone who is infected. These notifications have to be manually activated by the user from their device within their operating system settings.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The API was updated several times prior to release to search for confidentiality and security for all users, using exposure keys that are randomly generated without accessing to the location services of the smartphone, meaning that the API uses only data associated with Bluetooth traffic between devices.<\/p>

A total of 22 countries have requested and received access to this API for pilot test development and subsequently the implementation of an application. Both companies decided that the API will be enabled only for the governments of these countries for the development of a single application by country, incentivizing its massive use.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The app development must match the principles that Google and Apple communicated, among which are that the app must request authorization from the user before sharing that it is a positive case, the app can only be used for COVID-19 purposes and is prohibited accessing to the cellphone's location services. In addition, they reported that the system would stop working when it is no longer necessary in the fight against this virus.<\/p>

On the other hand, in India the use of a Contact tracing tools<\/em> similar to the Google and Apple API is being promoted. Even the Asian country's Ministry of Health proposes that all workers use the app to prevent mass contacts.<\/p>

This app, Aarogya Setu -available in 11 languages- was designed to notify users about the risk of possible infection in addition to informing health authorities about mass contacts what they call Containment Zones<\/em>, places where the virus has a higher incidence.<\/p>

There are other applications of this type such as NOVID20, which works in a very similar way to the API mentioned above, using Bluetooth as an alert system in case of contact with possible positive cases of the SARS-CoV-2, always seeking the security and privacy of users.<\/p>

Technological innovation and the development of new concepts to continue fighting COVID-19 is crucial in times of crisis. El pasado 10 de abril Google y Apple anunciaron el desarrollo de un sistema API para la lucha contra el COVID-19. Dos de las compa\u00f1\u00edas de tecnolog\u00eda m\u00e1s importantes se unieron para crear una API (Application Programming Interface), que permitir\u00e1 un mayor control para las medidas de distanciamiento social y prevenci\u00f3n de contagios de COVID-19 en el mundo. La API se integrar\u00e1 en los smartphones gracias a actualizaciones de sus respectivos sistemas operativos. En iOS 13.5 que se lanz\u00f3 el 20 de mayo del 2020, en dispositivos Android recibir\u00e1n la actualizaci\u00f3n por medio de Google Play Services. El sistema de contact tracing funcionar\u00e1 de la siguiente forma, un usuario positivo a COVID-19 puede decidir si quiere notificar a los dem\u00e1s usuarios de un posible contacto, los usuarios no contagiados recibir\u00e1n una “Notificaci\u00f3n de Exposici\u00f3n” un mensaje que indica que has estado cerca de alguien que esta contagiado. Estas notificaciones tienen que ser activadas manualmente por el usuario desde su dispositivo dentro de las configuraciones de su sistema operativo. La API fue actualizada en diversas ocasiones antes de su lanzamiento para buscar confidencialidad y seguridad para todos los usuarios, mediante claves de exposici\u00f3n que se generan de forma aleatoria sin acceder a los servicios de ubicaci\u00f3n del tel\u00e9fono celular, lo que significa que la API utiliza solamente datos asociados al tr\u00e1fico de Bluetooth entre dispositivos. \u00a0 Un total de 22 pa\u00edses han solicitado y recibido acceso a esta API para el desarrollo de pruebas piloto y posteriormente la implementaci\u00f3n de una aplicaci\u00f3n. Ambas compa\u00f1\u00edas decidieron que la API ser\u00e1 habilitada \u00fanicamente para los gobiernos de estos pa\u00edses para el que desarrollo de una aplicaci\u00f3n \u00fanica por pa\u00eds, incentivando su uso. El desarrollo de aplicaciones debe coincidir con los principios que Google y Apple comunicaron, entre los cuales est\u00e1n que la app debe solicitar forzosamente autorizaci\u00f3n al usuario antes de compartir que es un paciente contagiado, la app solamente puede ser utilizada para la lucha contra el COVID-19 y tiene prohibido el acceso a servicios de ubicaci\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, informaron que el sistema dejara de dar servicio cuando deje de ser necesario en la lucha contra este virus. Por otra parte, en India se est\u00e1 promoviendo el uso de una aplicaci\u00f3n de contact tracing similar a la API de Google y Apple. Incluso el Ministerio de salud del pa\u00eds asi\u00e1tico propone que todos los trabajadores utilicen la aplicaci\u00f3n para prevenir contactos masivos. La aplicaci\u00f3n de nombre Aarogya Setu -disponible en 11 idiomas- fue dise\u00f1ada para notificar a los usuarios sobre el riesgo de posible contagio adem\u00e1s de informar a las autoridades sanitarias sobre contactos masivos lo que llaman Containment Zones, es decir lugares donde el virus tiene una incidencia mayor. Existe otras aplicaciones de este tipo como NOVID20, que funciona de una forma muy similar a la API mencionada anteriormente, utilizando Bluetooth como sistema de alerta en caso de contacto con posibles casos positivos del virus SARS-CoV-2 procurando la seguridad y privacidad de los usuarios.
