In mid-February of this year, the Territorial Directorate of Health of Caldas, developed connectivity tests in three locations to determine if there was a sufficient communication channel for the implementation of telemedicine services. Following COVID-19 outbreak in Colombia, Caldas Government and the Territorial Health Directorate and the Telehealth Unit of the UdeC (University of Caldas), joined forces to offer remote consultations.<\/p>

As of the first week of May, more than 50,000 people from urban and rural areas of the Caldas department had been treated remotely through telemedicine services, thus avoiding travels and long journeys to cities and health centers. Reducing mobility in the area, the main way to prevent the spread of contagion.<\/p>

Tras la emergencia sanitaria, el sistema de telemedicina del departamento de Caldas, Colombia ha visto incremento en el uso de sus servicios. A mediados de febrero de este a\u00f1o la Direcci\u00f3n Territorial de Salud de Caldas, desarroll\u00f3 pruebas de conectividad en tres localidades para determinar si se contaba con un canal de comunicaci\u00f3n suficiente para la implementaci\u00f3n de servicios de telemedicina. De esta forma el gobierno present\u00f3 avances con el fin de beneficiar a la poblaci\u00f3n de Caldas principalmente aquellos que viven en zonas remotas. Tras la llegada del brote de COVID-19 a Colombia, Gobernaci\u00f3n de Caldas y la Direcci\u00f3n Territorial de Salud y la Unidad de Telesalud de la UdeC (Universidad de Caldas), unieron esfuerzos para ofrecer consultas v\u00eda remota. Hasta la primera semana de mayo, m\u00e1s de 50 mil personas de zonas urbanas o rurales del departamento de Caldas hab\u00edan sido atendidas remotamente a trav\u00e9s de servicios de telemedicina, y de esta forma evitar desplazamientos y trayectos largos a ciudades y centros de salud. Reduciendo de esta forma la movilidad en la zona, el principal modo de evitar la propagaci\u00f3n de contagios.
