In them, scientists use algorithms based on Big Data and <em>Machine Learning<\/em>, to prevent and control diseases.<\/p><p>One of the projects is led by Dominican researcher Rianier Mallol alongside epidemiologist Dhesi Raja, who met at NASA's Singularity University. The epidemiologist told him about how difficult it is for health systems to plan strategies against dengue because they don't know when the epidemic will appear. \"That's when I thought it would be a good idea to create a <em>machine<\/em> <em>learning<\/em> algorithm to identify in advance,\" Mallol explained.<\/p><p>AIME (Artificial Intelligence in Medical Epidemiology), a project implemented in Malaysia, was created. Data collection and variables consisted of mapping databases around the world to such an extent that they managed to obtain up to 800 variables, for example, the material of the houses, however, it was subsequently reduced to 300 variables. The information gathered can achieve the prediction of a new epidemic up to three months earlier.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-334ec30 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default wpr-particle-no wpr-jarallax-no wpr-parallax-no wpr-sticky-section-no wpr-equal-height-no\" data-id=\"334ec30\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-4351b2a\" data-id=\"4351b2a\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3fb7214 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3fb7214\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>On the other hand, in Argentina, at the National University of C\u00f3rdoba, there is a project that seeks to predict mosquito-borne diseases such as Zika, chikungunya, dengue, among others.<\/p><p>Researcher Juan Scavuzzo leads a <em>machine learning<\/em>project that identifies in advance the emergency risk of <em>Aedes aegypti<\/em>colonies, the species of mosquitoes that causes dengue. This system was tested in the province of La Salta, in the city of Tartagal, in northern Argentina.<\/p><p>The ultimate goal is to create a geospatial map that indicates the risks in each region of the country. The CGPT will be tested in hospitals in Santiago del Estereo, San Juan and Mendoza. La informaci\u00f3n recabada puede lograr la predicci\u00f3n de una nueva epidemia hasta tres meses antes. Por otro lado, en Argentina, en la Universidad Nacional de C\u00f3rdoba, existe un proyecto que busca predecir enfermedades transmitidas por mosquitos como el zika, chikungunya, dengue, entre otras. El investigador Juan Scavuzzo, lidera un proyecto guiado por machine learning, con el que identifican con anticipaci\u00f3n el riesgo de emergencia de colonias de Aedes aegypti, la especie de mosquitos que provoca dengue. Este sistema fue probado en la provincia de la Salta, en la ciudad de Tartagal, al norte de Argentina. El objetivo final es la creaci\u00f3n de un mapa geoespacial que indique los riesgos en cada regi\u00f3n del pa\u00eds. Otro de los proyectos en Salud que involucran IA es el de Cristian Yones, ingeniero de la Universidad Nacional del Litoral en Santa Fe, desarroll\u00f3 un proyecto llamado Child Growth Prediction Tree (GCPT), se trata de un algoritmo dise\u00f1ado para predecir la malnutrici\u00f3n infantil utilizando datos como peso, altura e \u00edndice de masa corporal.
