Actualmente m\u00e1s de la mitad de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial cuenta con acceso a Internet, tras la situaci\u00f3n que vive el mundo este a\u00f1o, el internet se ha vuelto crucial para la difusi\u00f3n de informaci\u00f3n y para permanecer comunicados. Tras la emergencia mundial debido a el brote de COVID-19 y las medidas de distanciamiento social obligatorias o voluntarias, impuestas o recomendadas por los gobiernos del mundo, los m\u00e9todos como la teleeducaci\u00f3n y educaci\u00f3n a distancia, as\u00ed como la teleorientaci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica han tomado mayor importancia. En Estados Unidos, el pa\u00eds con mayor n\u00famero de contagios confirmados por COVID-19, fue realizada una encuesta sobre la importancia de la Salud Digital y la Telemedicina. De acuerdo a una de sus preguntas sobre si los adultos se sienten c\u00f3modos comunic\u00e1ndose con su m\u00e9dico a trav\u00e9s de tel\u00e9fono o internet, se registr\u00f3 un incremento de casi 10% entre noviembre del 2019 y abril del 2020, pues en noviembre un 65% respondi\u00f3 que s\u00ed se sienten c\u00f3modos y en abril del 2020 tras la pandemia, subi\u00f3 a un 74%. Tambi\u00e9n en EEUU, compa\u00f1\u00edas que ofrecen servicios de salud virtual registraron aumentos de hasta 50% en el uso de sus plataformas, e incluso una compa\u00f1\u00eda con sede en Minneapolis report\u00f3 un incremento en las visitas a su plataforma 36 veces mayor que el mes anterior. En Am\u00e9rica Latina, varios gobiernos crearon aplicaciones para smartphones donde se le ofrece seguimiento a posibles casos de COVID-19 y recomendaciones en caso de resultar positivos. En M\u00e9xico el Gobierno Federal en alianza con una compa\u00f1\u00eda de mensajer\u00eda habilit\u00f3 un chatbot para contestar las preguntas m\u00e1s frecuentes y brindar informaci\u00f3n general. Sin embargo, m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de que la telemedicina ha sido clave para que pacientes contagiados no graves por COVID-19, reciban asesor\u00eda m\u00e9dica y recomendaciones de forma remota durante su aislamiento y recuperaci\u00f3n, tiene adem\u00e1s a trav\u00e9s de las consultas remotas un alcance que hasta ahora no ha sido potenciado masivamente.\u00a0 Es por ello que debido al COVID-19 los servicios y proveedores de telemedicina y telesalud adquieran mayor relevancia dentro de la poblaci\u00f3n y logren posicionarse como una opci\u00f3n real entre la poblaci\u00f3n. La telemedicina tiene la capacidad de responder de manera r\u00e1pida y eficaz en casos de emergencia como la que vivimos con la pandemia, esto significa nuevos retos como la alfabetizaci\u00f3n digital de los ciudadanos y el personal de salud para que se logren adaptar a las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas disponibles.
