The main purpose of boosting telemedicine services in the Caldas region is to bring higher quality health services closer to remote populations.<\/p>

The telemedicine project in the region is supported by the local department government in collaboration with the University of Caldas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The director of the DTS explained that there are 14 hospitals in the department with the right technological equipment. One of the tools is the Midoc mobile unit, which allows remote consultations even in places without internet connection or electric light, since it has an uninterrupted power system, so it can operate for three days autonomously.<\/p>

This mobile unit has the ability to store patient information so that the remote community professionals informs specialists at the University of Caldas to make decisions without rushing and with greater support.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Jimena Aristiz\u00e1bal, directora de la Direcci\u00f3n Territorial de Salud (DTS), espera dotar de equipo de Telemedicina a los 13 municipios que restan en Caldas. El principal prop\u00f3sito de impulsar los servicios de telemedicina en la regi\u00f3n de Caldas es acercar servicios de salud de mayor calidad a las poblaciones remotas. El proyecto de telemedicina en la regi\u00f3n est\u00e1 respaldado por el gobierno del departamento local en colaboraci\u00f3n con la Universidad de Caldas. La directora de la DTS, explic\u00f3 que en el departamento hay 14 hospitales con el equipamiento tecnol\u00f3gico adecuado. Una de las herramientas es la unidad m\u00f3vil Midoc, que permite realizar consultas remotas incluso en lugares sin conexi\u00f3n a internet o luz el\u00e9ctrica, ya que cuenta con un sistema de alimentaci\u00f3n ininterrumpida, por lo que puede operar durante tres d\u00edas de manera aut\u00f3noma. Dicha unidad m\u00f3vil tiene la capacidad de almacenar informaci\u00f3n del paciente para que el m\u00e9dico de la comunidad remota informe a especialistas de la Universidad de Caldas y as\u00ed tomar decisiones sin precipitarse y con un respaldo mayor. Cada unidad m\u00f3vil tiene un costo de 12 millones de pesos colombianos (equivalente a poco m\u00e1s de 71 mil pesos mexicanos) y se busca que en poco tiempo los 27 hospitales departamentales cuenten con esta tecnolog\u00eda para brindar servicios de salud a la mayor cantidad de gente posible.
