Hospitals and health centers that already had units specialized in telehealth and telemedicine before the COVID-19 pandemic crisis have supported the public health system to endure the situation.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In early 2020, the University of Antioquia (UdeA), presented in partnership with Nueva EPS (Health Promoter Entity) and the IPS Universitaria (Promoting Services Institute), a telehealth project, initially focused on a teleurgency model to improve patient care and decongest the hospital services of 1st and 2rd level emergency.<\/p>

The project was developed by LivingLab, the telemedicine unit of the University's Faculty of Medicine. To measure the impact of the project they conducted a pilot test in Urab\u00e1, which consisted of providing care to ten patients through teleurgencies.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The system involves patients with doubts about their diagnosis requesting medical personnel through New EPS, then LivingLab's urgencies analyze the patient's medical history through ICT to determine whether it is necessary to take the patient to a specialized hospital.<\/p>

Now, following the health emergency by COVID-19 in Colombia, LivingLab members in their Telehealth modality give academic seminars for students of the Faculty of Medicine, who collaborate on the digital health strategies implemented by the UdeA.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

These are two programs, focused on medical management, which includes topics such as clinical generalities and structure of care in telemedicine to patients with suspected COVID-19 or patients confirmed with outpatient treatment.<\/p>

Moreover, in mid-March, about 100 members of the Community of the Faculty of Medicine formed a team of first responders of Antioquia's Telemedicine strategy for the care of patients suspected of COVID-19, to establish filters and detect cases and thus prevent the spread of the virus. The group settled for teachers, internal physicians and technicians in UdeA Pre-Hospital Care.<\/p>

In addition, the UdeA has enabled telephone lines for mental health care during the emergency, targeting both the general community and health staff.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Los hospitales y centros de salud que ya contaban con unidades especializadas en telesalud y telemedicina antes de la crisis por la pandemia de COVID-19 han representado un soporte al sistema de salud p\u00fablico para sobrellevar la situaci\u00f3n. A inicios de 2020, la Universidad de Antioquia (UdeA), present\u00f3 en alianza con Nueva EPS (Entidad Promotora de Salud) y la IPS Universitaria (instituci\u00f3n promotora de Servicios), un proyecto de telesalud, enfocado inicialmente en un modelo de teleurgencias para mejorar la atenci\u00f3n de los pacientes y descongestionar los servicios hospitalarios de urgencias de 1er y 2do nivel. El proyecto fue desarrollado por LivingLab, la unidad de telemedicina de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad. Para medir el impacto del proyecto realizaron una prueba piloto en Urab\u00e1, que consisti\u00f3 en brindar atenci\u00f3n a diez pacientes a trav\u00e9s de teleurgencias. El sistema consiste en que los pacientes con dudas sobre su diagn\u00f3stico solicita personal m\u00e9dico a trav\u00e9s de Nueva EPS, posteriormente los urgenci\u00f3logos de LivingLab analizan a trav\u00e9s de TIC la historia cl\u00ednica del paciente para determinar si es necesario llevar al paciente a un hospital especializado. Ahora, tras la emergencia sanitaria por COVID-19 en Colombia, los miembros de LivingLab en su modalidad de Telesalud imparten seminarios acad\u00e9micos para los estudiantes de la facultad de Medicina, quienes colaboran en las estrategias de salud digital implementadas por la UdeA. Se tratan de dos programas, enfocados al manejo m\u00e9dico, que incluye temas como generalidades cl\u00ednicas y estructura de la atenci\u00f3n en telemedicina a paciente con sospecha de COVID-19 o pacientes confirmados con tratamiento ambulatorio. Por otra parte, a mediados de marzo, cerca de 100 integrantes de la comunidad de la Facultad de Medicina formaron un equipo de primeros respondientes de la estrategia de Telemedicina de Antioquia para la atenci\u00f3n de pacientes sospechosos de COVID-19, para establecer filtros y detectar casos y de esta forma evitar la propagaci\u00f3n del virus. El grupo se conform\u00f3 con docentes, m\u00e9dicos internos y t\u00e9cnicos en Atenci\u00f3n Prehospitalaria de la UdeA. Adem\u00e1s, la UdeA ha habilitado durante la emergencia l\u00edneas telef\u00f3nicas para la atenci\u00f3n en salud mental, dirigida tanto a la comunidad en general como a personal de salud.
