With CASALUD, Mexico provides solutions to eradicate chronic diseases - a cause of 84% of deaths in the population - that mainly afflict people over 60. The plan is based on supplying medical centers of small towns with infrastructure and technology suitable to provide medicines and tools that contribute to the needs of the patient and their connection with public health institutions.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

For years, Low- and Middle-income Countries (LMICs) \u2013 Mexico being one of them \u2013 have faced an epidemic of chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity and lipid disorders. This means that people with these diseases may not be aware of this, as conditions are discovered after several studies and symptoms do not manifest very clearly. This demonstrates the need for broader studies, testing and screening programs.<\/p>

Carlos Slim Foundation created an initiative called Integrated Measurement for Timely Detection (MIDO),<\/strong> a proactive NCD detection and prevention policy that uses Big Data and Artificial Intelligence to create a a broad portfolio of accurate information that supports diseases such as hypertension or diabetes through clinical registration systems that classify, analyze and track potential threats.<\/p>

The foundation set out to collaborate with the Mexican Secretariat of Health<\/strong> and has already evaluated more than 500,000 patients who would not have been screened.<\/p>

The creation of MIDO has helped to restructure existing detection programs and expand them. They have been modernized and finally learned how to systematize strategies and incorporate appropriate lifestyle changes through counseling.<\/p>

The following study of the implementation of the MIDO program in Mexico suggests that primary and secondary prevention programs in other Low- and Middle-income Countries should consider the application of this method in their health systems. Undoubtedly, this will provide better population-based detection targets, focusing mostly on the pre-disease stages and simplifying the transition between detection, diagnosis confirmation and incorporation of Patients.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Bajo la estrategia nombrada CASALUD, M\u00e9xico aporta soluciones para erradicar enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas -causa del 84% de muertes en la poblaci\u00f3n- que aquejan principalmente a mayores de 60 a\u00f1os. El plan se basa en abastecer a los centros m\u00e9dicos de peque\u00f1as poblaciones de infraestructura y tecnolog\u00eda adecuada para dotar de medicamentos y herramientas que aporten a las necesidades del paciente y a su conexi\u00f3n con las instituciones de salud p\u00fablica. Desde hace a\u00f1os, pa\u00edses de ingresos bajos y medios (LMICs por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) -M\u00e9xico siendo uno de ellos- se han enfrentado a una epidemia de enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas no transmisibles (ENT), como la diabetes, hipertensi\u00f3n, obesidad y alteraciones de los l\u00edpidos. Esto significa que las personas con estas enfermedades pueden no estar conscientes de ello, al ser condiciones que se descubren despu\u00e9s de varios estudios y los s\u00edntomas no se manifiestan con mucha claridad. Con esto se demuestra la necesidad de realizar estudios m\u00e1s amplios, pruebas y programas de detecci\u00f3n. Nunca ajena a estar a la vanguardia, la Fundaci\u00f3n Carlos Slim cre\u00f3 una iniciativa llamada Medici\u00f3n Integrada para la Detecci\u00f3n Oportuna (MIDO), una pol\u00edtica de detecci\u00f3n y prevenci\u00f3n proactiva de ENT la cual se sirve de la Big Data y la Inteligencia Artificial para crear un amplio portafolio de informaci\u00f3n certera que sea un apoyo para anticiparse a enfermedades como hipertensi\u00f3n o diabetes por medio de sistemas de registro cl\u00ednico que clasifiquen, analicen y den seguimiento a posibles amenazas. La fundaci\u00f3n se dispuso a colaborar con la Secretar\u00eda de Salud de M\u00e9xico y ya ha evaluado a m\u00e1s de 500 mil pacientes que no habr\u00edan sido examinados. La creaci\u00f3n de MIDO ha ayudado a reestructurar los programas de detecci\u00f3n existentes y ampliarlos. Se han modernizado y, finalmente, se aprendi\u00f3 c\u00f3mo sistematizar las estrategias e incorporar cambios apropiados en el estilo de vida a trav\u00e9s de asesoramiento. El siguiente estudio de la implementaci\u00f3n del programa MIDO en M\u00e9xico sugiere que los programas de prevenci\u00f3n primaria y secundaria en otros pa\u00edses de ingresos bajos y medios deber\u00edan considerar la aplicaci\u00f3n de este m\u00e9todo en sus sistemas de salud. Sin lugar a duda, esto proporcionar\u00e1 mejores objetivos de detecci\u00f3n basados en la poblaci\u00f3n, se concentrar\u00e1 mayormente en las etapas previas a la enfermedad y en la simplificaci\u00f3n de la transici\u00f3n entre la detecci\u00f3n, la confirmaci\u00f3n del diagn\u00f3stico y la incorporaci\u00f3n de pacientes.
