Mexico experienced an air pollution alert throughout the country. This problem had been brewing for some time due to practices affecting the environment and that is why several specialists gathered to reach scientific agreements that raise awareness of good habits to take care of the conditions of the planet and, of course, health.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Government officials from Nuevo Leon, Jalisco, Guanajuato and other Latin American countries met at the Workshop on Environmental Epidemiology, Air Pollution and Training for AirQ+ use,<\/strong>held in Mexico City.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The AirQ<\/strong>+<\/strong> is a computer assistant software that record air conditions in terms of exposure with pollutants. It also gives access to make an estimated measurement of its quality and if it is advisable to breathe it or stay away from certain areas so as not to contract diseases.<\/p>

The technology is an accurate gear, as sensors that use to detect threats of polluting particles in real time become sensitized and thus send constant records with the desire for prevention.<\/p>

Even as the information age has expanded and there is access to a wealth of data on how to take care of the planet or reduce the amount of daily waste, trash disposed when eating and during the production of industrial products create a layer that suffocates the planet.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\"The waste that we are leaving in the atmosphere or in many other parts of the planet affects all life and to that extent scientific knowledge and capacity building becomes central,\"<\/em>, said Marina Robles Garc\u00eda, Secretary of Environment.<\/p>

Change is necessary and it starts with individual behavior. From how people consume and live, to garbage and how it is disposed of.<\/p>

The workshop was attended by representatives of important institutions such as the secretary of capital health, the WHO representative and adviser, the director of environmental health at INSP and the UN Environment representative in Mexico.<\/p>

It is very important to continue to raise awareness and work to institutionalize best practices for the care of the environment and improve the living conditions of the population.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

M\u00e9xico vivi\u00f3 una alerta de contingencia por niveles de contaminaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica registrados a lo largo del pa\u00eds. Este problema se ven\u00eda gestando desde hace tiempo debido a las pr\u00e1cticas que afectan al medioambiente y por eso varios especialistas se reunieron para llegar a acuerdos cient\u00edficos que concienticen a la poblaci\u00f3n sobre buenos h\u00e1bitos para cuidar las condiciones del planeta y, por consiguiente, la salud. Representantes de los gobiernos de Nuevo Le\u00f3n, Jalisco, Guanajuato y otros pa\u00edses de Am\u00e9rica Latina se dieron cita en el Taller de Epidemiolog\u00eda Ambiental, Contaminaci\u00f3n del Aire y Capacitaci\u00f3n para el uso del AirQ+, llevado a cabo en la ciudad de M\u00e9xico. El AirQ+ es un software que sirve como asistente de computadora para registrar las condiciones del aire en cuanto a su exposici\u00f3n con sustancias contaminantes. Permite hacer una medici\u00f3n estimada de su calidad y si es recomendable respirarlo o mantenerse alejado de ciertas zonas para no contraer enfermedades. La tecnolog\u00eda es un engranaje ad-hoc, pues los sensores que utilizan para detectar amenazas de part\u00edculas contaminantes en tiempo real se sensibilizan y de esta manera, enviar registros constantes con el af\u00e1n de la prevenci\u00f3n. Aun cuando la era de la informaci\u00f3n se ha expandido y se tenga acceso a gran cantidad de datos sobre c\u00f3mo cuidar el planeta o reducir la cantidad de basura o desechos que se producen cada d\u00eda, los residuos desechados al comer y durante la producci\u00f3n de productos industriales crean una capa que asfixia al planeta. \u201cLa basura que estamos dejando en la atm\u00f3sfera o en muchas otras partes del planeta afecta a toda la vida y en esa medida el conocimiento cient\u00edfico y el fortalecimiento de capacidades se vuelve central\u201d, coment\u00f3 Marina Robles Garc\u00eda, secretaria del Medio Ambiente. El cambio es necesario y empieza con el comportamiento individual. Desde c\u00f3mo se consume y se vive, hasta la basura y c\u00f3mo se logra desecharla. En el taller, se cont\u00f3 con la presencia de representantes de instituciones importantes como la secretaria de salud capitalina, la representante y la asesora de la OMS, el director de Salud Ambiental del INSP y la representante de la ONU Medio Ambiente en M\u00e9xico. Es muy importante seguir creando conciencia y trabajando por institucionalizar mejores pr\u00e1cticas para el cuidado del medio ambiente y mejora en las condiciones de vida de la poblaci\u00f3n.
