The Faculty of Medicine and the Telemedicine Unit of the University of Concepcion (UdeC), held the International Congress of Telemedicine, Telehealth and Digital Health<\/strong>on December 6 and 7, 2019.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The conference addressed topics such as telehealth, applications and success stories in telemedicine and big data <\/em>and Artificial Intelligence, and Chilean authorities recognized the progress that has been implemented in their country.<\/p>

Carlos Saavedra, UdeC rector, recognized the work of the team led by Dr. Ang\u00e9lica Avenda\u00f1o, president of the Congress and director of UdeC\u2019s Telemedicine Unit, and noted that they have been pioneers in Chile in telemedicine issues, since they have more than 15 years working to provide medical care to patients in the region, he also highlighted the scope of the Digital Hospital project in the south of the country.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ang\u00e9lica Avenda\u00f1o detailed the importance of technological advances within medicine and health in order to achieve more people have access to health care.<\/p>

\"More than 60,000 patients have been treated in the Telemedicine Unit solving health problems in areas such as ophthalmology and dermatology, as well as having specialists in endocrinology, hematology and cardiology who from the university they have access to remotely providing care to patients living in remote populations,\" explained the director of UdeC's Telemedicine Unit.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El evento convoc\u00f3 a acad\u00e9micos, investigadores, miembros de la industria vinculada a la salud y tecnolog\u00eda, as\u00ed como especialistas en el \u00e1rea cl\u00ednica. La Facultad de Medicina y la Unidad de Telemedicina de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n (UdeC), llevaron a cabo el Congreso Internacional de Telemedicina, Telesalud y Salud Digital, se celebr\u00f3 el 6 y 7 de diciembre del 2019. El congreso abord\u00f3 temas como telesalud, aplicaciones y casos de \u00e9xito en telemedicina y Big data e Inteligencia Artificial, adem\u00e1s autoridades chilenas reconocieron los avances que se han implementado en su pa\u00eds. Carlos Saavedra, rector de la UdeC, reconoci\u00f3 el trabajo del equipo que lidera la Dra. Ang\u00e9lica Avenda\u00f1o, presidenta del Congreso y directora de la Unidad de Telemedicina de la UdeC, y se\u00f1al\u00f3 que han sido pioneros en Chile en temas de telemedicina, ya que cuentan con m\u00e1s de 15 a\u00f1os trabajando en ofrecer atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a los pacientes de la regi\u00f3n, adem\u00e1s, destac\u00f3 el alcance del proyecto del Hospital Digital en la zona sur del pa\u00eds.
