Through an agreement between the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) and the Superintendence of Telecommunications (Sutel), patients from remote areas will be able to obtain their Unique Digital Health Record (EDUS).<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Sutel will provide the connectivity services to the Periodic Visit Centers, administered by the CCSS. Roberto Cervantes Barrantes, general manager emphasized that this agreement will ease the conditions for the EDUS Project to be strengthen throughout the country.<\/p>

Cervantes explained that the Project is set to begin in 196 Periodic Visit Centers, in Brunca and Atlantica regions. In this first stage 108,000 inhabitant of this regions will be benefited.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The connection in these places will allow EDUS to work for the people in remote areas and in this way raise the health services quality. Health professionals will be able to access medication history and all historical record information to provide complete and accurate care to patients, explained the manager.<\/p>

On the other hand, Gilbert Camacho Mora, president of SUTEL council, said that they\u2019re on an opportunity to close the digital divide in remote communities and achieve greater quality in health services.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Information Technologies director Robert Picado Mora, explained that the implementation of connectivity projects means a first step to create new infrastructure to provide more telemedicine services.<\/p>

A trav\u00e9s de un convenio entre la Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS) y la Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones (Sutel), pacientes de zonas alejadas podr\u00e1n obtener su Expediente Digital \u00danico en Salud (EDUS). La Sutel proporcionar\u00e1 los servicios de conectividad a los Puestos de Visita Peri\u00f3dica que administra la CCSS.  Roberto Cervantes Barrantes, gerente general de la CCSS enfatiz\u00f3 en que este acuerdo facilitar\u00e1 las condiciones para que el proyecto EDUS se consolide en todo el pa\u00eds. Cervantes, explic\u00f3 que se espera comenzar el proyecto en 196 Puestos de Visita Peri\u00f3dica en las regiones de Brunca y Atl\u00e1ntica. En esta primera etapa se beneficiar\u00e1n 108 mil habitantes de estas regiones. La conexi\u00f3n en estas poblaciones permitir\u00e1 que el EDUS funcione para los habitantes de zonas remotas y de esta forma elevar la calidad de los servicios de salud.  Los profesionales de la salud podr\u00e1n acceder al historial de medicamentos y toda la informaci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica del expediente para brindar una atenci\u00f3n completa y precisa a los pacientes, seg\u00fan explic\u00f3 el gerente. Por otra parte, Gilbert Camacho Mora, presidente del Consejo de SUTEL, coment\u00f3 que se encuentran en una oportunidad de cerrar la brecha digital en comunidades alejadas y que se logre mayor calidad en los servicios de salud. El director de Tecnolog\u00edas de Informaci\u00f3n de la CCSS, Robert Picado Mora, explic\u00f3 que la implementaci\u00f3n de proyectos de conectividad, significa un primer paso para habilitar nueva infraestructura para brindar m\u00e1s servicios que incluyan telemedicina.
