University of Monterrey (UDEM) students\u2019, Brando Femat of the Medicine, Surgery, and Midwifery program, and Antonio Manuel Garc\u00eda of the Bachelor of Business Creation and Innovation; developed Zoivox, an app that measures blood pressure through voice.<\/p>

Both students have worked on the project since 2016, the following year they developed the initial software to continue the research, according to UDEM the current software has the same degree of reliability as a sphygmomanometer.<\/p>

Femat explained that the idea came because of the needs they detected in public health centers because of a lack of tools to measure blood pressure. During a presentation at a university event, they explained the severity of developing high blood pressure, a disease that affects one in three adults in the world.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The medical student also explained what the initial steps of the project were like, when they were in their fifth semester: \"I liked the idea of people having something simple, something practical, with which they could measure their blood pressure, I joined with Antonio and came up with the idea of creating something that was more practical for people\u201d.<\/p>

The Femat and Garc\u00eda initiative was selected by the UDEM Social Transformation Laboratory and two years later they conducted the first pilot test, also they made a request to the Research Ethics Committee to receive the endorsement of the Federal Commission for the Health Risk Protection (COFEPRIS).<\/p>

During the pilot test they designed a research protocol and developed a predictive factor equation between low and high blood pressure considering different variables such as weight, age, sex, size and body mass index.<\/p>

Femat, stated that the margin of error is the same as a traditional sphygmomanometer, but they want to achieve an accuracy of 95%.<\/p>

This year the students expect to register a logo for the project, launch the first test prototype and patent the diagnostic algorithm. So next year the system will be launched and seeking to create a user base from health systems of the Monterrey metropolitan area, and subsequently in 2022 achieve national presence.<\/p>

El desarrollo tecnol\u00f3gico medir\u00e1 la presi\u00f3n arterial por medio de las variaciones de los decibeles en las frecuencias de la voz y ser\u00e1 posible monitorear si el paciente sufre de hipertensi\u00f3n por medio de una app en un tel\u00e9fono m\u00f3vil. Los Estudiantes de la Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM), Brando Femat de la carrera M\u00e9dico cirujano y partero y Antonio Manuel Garc\u00eda de la Licenciatura en Creaci\u00f3n de Negocios e Innovaci\u00f3n Empresarial; desarrollaron la aplicaci\u00f3n Zoivox que mide la presi\u00f3n arterial a trav\u00e9s de la voz. Ambos alumnos han trabajado la idea del proyecto desde el 2016, y al a\u00f1o siguiente desarrollaron el software inicial para continuar con las investigaciones, seg\u00fan la UDEM el software actual cuenta con el mismo grado de confiabilidad que un bauman\u00f3metro. Femat explic\u00f3 que la idea surgi\u00f3 por las necesidades que detectaron en centros de salud p\u00fablicos por falta de instrumentos para medir la presi\u00f3n arterial. Durante una presentaci\u00f3n en un evento de la universidad, explicaron la gravedad de padecer hipertensi\u00f3n arterial, enfermedad que afecta a uno de cada tres adultos en el mundo. El estudiante de medicina tambi\u00e9n explic\u00f3 c\u00f3mo fueron los pasos iniciales del proyecto, cuando se encontraban en quinto semestre: \u201cMe gustaba la idea de que las personas tuvieran algo sencillo, algo pr\u00e1ctico, con lo que pudieran medir su presi\u00f3n arterial, me junt\u00e9 con Antonio y sali\u00f3 la idea de crear algo que fuera m\u00e1s pr\u00e1ctico para las personas\u201d. La iniciativa de Femat y Garc\u00eda fue seleccionada por el Laboratorio de Transformaci\u00f3n Social de la UDEM y dos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s realizaron la primera prueba piloto, adem\u00e1s de una solicitud al Comit\u00e9 de \u00c9tica de Investigaciones para recibir el aval de la Comisi\u00f3n Federal Para la Protecci\u00f3n contra Riesgos Sanitarios (COFEPRIS). Durante la prueba piloto, dise\u00f1aron el protocolo de investigaci\u00f3n y desarrollaron una ecuaci\u00f3n con factor predictivo entre la presi\u00f3n arterial baja y la alta considerando diferentes variables como peso, edad, sexo, talla e \u00edndice de masa corporal. Femat, precis\u00f3 que el margen de error es el mismo que el de los bauman\u00f3metros tradicionales, pero quieren lograr una precisi\u00f3n de 95%. Este a\u00f1o los alumnos esperan registrar un logotipo para el proyecto, lanzar el primer prototipo de prueba y patentar el algoritmo de diagn\u00f3stico. Y el pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o lanzar el sistema y formar una base de usuarios de sistemas hospitalarios del \u00e1rea metropolitana de Monterrey para posteriormente, en 2022 lograr presencia a nivel nacional. De esta forma el proyecto apunta a un mercado m\u00e1s abierto y que m\u00e1s pacientes tengan acceso a medir su presi\u00f3n arterial de manera regular de una forma pr\u00e1ctica.
