According to a study by Penn Medicine<\/strong> \"it was found that Twitter users with depression and anxiety were more likely to publish images with low aesthetic values and less vivid colors, particularly grayscale images.\"<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

El desarrollo de un nuevo algoritmo, espec\u00edficamente en la plataforma Twitter, podr\u00eda lograr identificar a usuarios que presenten signos de ansiedad y depresi\u00f3n, y de esta forma ayudarlos preventivamente. De acuerdo con un estudio de Penn Medicine \u201cse descubri\u00f3 que los usuarios de Twitter con depresi\u00f3n y ansiedad ten\u00edan m\u00e1s probabilidades de publicar im\u00e1genes con valores est\u00e9ticos bajos y colores menos vivos, particularmente im\u00e1genes en escala de grises\u201d. Los resultados muestran que los usuarios, adem\u00e1s del tipo de im\u00e1genes que comparten, tienen particularidades en las formas en que presentan sus fotos: suelen suprimir emociones positivas y en su caso, evidenciar las negativas, como fruncir el ce\u00f1o o presentarse totalmente serios, lo cual determina signos de depresi\u00f3n o \u201cafectaci\u00f3n emocional\u201d. Como procedimiento, se trabaj\u00f3 con inteligencia artificial y visi\u00f3n por computadora; se analizaron las fotograf\u00edas publicadas, en espec\u00edfico las de perfil utilizadas en la plataforma para determinar las cualidades que podr\u00edan asociarse con estos padecimientos. El objetivo principal es \u201cutilizar la red social como m\u00e9todo de detecci\u00f3n y prevenci\u00f3n para la ansiedad y la depresi\u00f3n\u201d, de acuerdo con la informaci\u00f3n que se dio a conocer en una de las ponencias que formaron parte de la Conferencia Internacional AAAI sobre web y redes sociales. El estudio realizado en 2018 por los investigadores de Penn Medicine expone que \u201cla depresi\u00f3n pod\u00eda predecirse hasta tres meses antes de un diagn\u00f3stico mediante el uso de inteligencia artificial para identificar palabras clave que marcaban a ciertos usuarios\u201d. Uno de los principales avances para la medicina y la relaci\u00f3n con las redes sociales, es que, cada vez los estudios se centran m\u00e1s en las im\u00e1genes publicadas, permitiendo \u201cobtener pistas sobre las condiciones de salud a trav\u00e9s del contenido de la imagen\u201d de acuerdo con el estudio. Seg\u00fan Sharath Guntuku, PhD, cient\u00edfico investigador del Centro de Salud Digital de Penn Medicine, “si bien la asociaci\u00f3n entre la depresi\u00f3n y los patrones de uso del lenguaje est\u00e1 bien estudiada, los aspectos visuales de la depresi\u00f3n no lo han sido” (\u2026) “Es desafiante transformar los p\u00edxeles que forman las im\u00e1genes en caracter\u00edsticas interpretables, pero con los avances en los algoritmos de visi\u00f3n por computadora, ahora estamos tratando de descubrir otra dimensi\u00f3n de la condici\u00f3n tal como se manifiesta en l\u00ednea”. Colores, texturas, simetr\u00eda, iluminaci\u00f3n, profundidad de campo y expresiones faciales, son algunos de los factores que se han tomado en cuenta para lograr el algoritmo que puede ayudar a expertos de la medicina a identificar ciertos problemas cr\u00f3nicos antes de que empeoren y lleven a las personas a tomar medidas dr\u00e1sticas. Falta a\u00fan llegar a un acuerdo de privacidad en el que, tanto el uso de los algoritmos como la divulgaci\u00f3n de la informaci\u00f3n recabada, sea aprobada personalmente por cada usuario. Este estudio es un gran ejemplo en donde la Salud Digital no afecta la vida cotidiana de los pacientes, pero obtiene datos importantes para poder ayudar en las labores de prevenci\u00f3n de enfermedades y padecimientos.
