In Chile, 60% of women have never had a mammogram. That is why, breast cancer diagnoses occur mostly when the disease is in advanced stages, which is why it\u2019s the leading cause of death among women. The Ministry of Health is trying to change this trend, and therefore, a branch of digital hospitals has been developed and it will be able to provide new technologies for the detection of various potentially lethal diseases, this project is known as Digital Hospital<\/strong>.<\/p>

For decades, access in rural areas to emergency medical services and to these technological advances was virtually unheard of. Now, with the help of digital hospitals, it has become a reality. Digital Health paves the way for those who need it most today, to have a fast and secure entrance to quality health services.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

This new generation of digital institutions is only the beginning of a new technological world, which will improve rapid access to new diagnostic and therapeutic methods so that people can take care of their health. When presenting the minor symptom, a person can undergo radiological examinations at a distance in the Digital Hospital.\u00a0<\/p>

In case of detecting an image that could be a cancer tumor, the patient will have almost immediate access to a biopsy to confirm his or her diagnosis and eventually undergo surgery, if necessary. This whole process becomes exponentially faster and more efficient thanks to Digital Health.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Access to specialty health services also improves, since the technology that exists today allows for a quick and efficient exchange of information. With this help, patients will not have to travel long distances to access better health or medical systems and doctors will be able to consult their file.<\/p>

Following the example of first world countries (the TeleECG program in Norway and the Swinfen Charitable Trust Telemedicine Network in England), the Chilean government is making a strong investment in high quality mammography tools to put them into operation in various offices in the country. These radiological systems can send their results quickly to digital hospitals, where specialists of the highest levels can analyze them and make an appropriate diagnosis.<\/p>

The system, even if it depends on several factors, could result in the early detection of cancer cases, which would avoid long illnesses and even fatalities that could have been prevented with having a timely diagnosis and adequate treatment.<\/p>

Today, technological advances such as the digitalization of medical records, the transmission of online data and the systems that integrate different sectors through digital services have revolutionized the way in which health systems operate. A much wider and more diverse network of services has been created, which has allowed greater access to better care and services of the highest quality. This begins to permeate and grow in Latin America.<\/p>

The new health policies aim to focus on patients and their well-being. Being able to provide access to better benefits regardless of the economic, geographical or social situation of a patient is undoubtedly a priority for the Chilean government and several other Latin American countries, which seek to bring medical aid to their most disadvantaged population.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El gobierno chileno busca ofrecer un modelo de atenci\u00f3n centrado en el paciente aprovechando los avances de la Salud Digital. En Chile, el 60% de las mujeres nunca se han realizado una mamograf\u00eda. Es por ello, que los diagn\u00f3sticos de c\u00e1ncer de mama se presentan en su mayor\u00eda cuando la enfermedad se encuentra en etapas avanzadas, raz\u00f3n por la cual es la primera causa de muerte entre las mujeres. El Ministerio de Salud trata de cambiar esta tendencia, y por eso, se ha desarrollado una rama de hospitales digitales que podr\u00e1n proporcionar nuevas tecnolog\u00edas para la detecci\u00f3n de diversas enfermedades potencialmente letales, a este proyecto se le conoce como Hospital Digital. Durante d\u00e9cadas el acceso en zonas rurales a servicios m\u00e9dicos de urgencia y a estos avances tecnol\u00f3gicos, era pr\u00e1cticamente inaudito. Ahora, con la ayuda de los hospitales digitales, esto se ha convertido en una realidad. La salud digital abre caminos para que quien hoy m\u00e1s lo necesita, tenga una entrada r\u00e1pida y segura a servicios de salud de calidad. Esta nueva generaci\u00f3n de instituciones digitales es s\u00f3lo el comienzo de un nuevo mundo tecnol\u00f3gico, el cual mejorar\u00e1 el acceso r\u00e1pido a nuevos m\u00e9todos diagn\u00f3sticos y terap\u00e9uticos para que la gente pueda cuidar su salud. Al presentar el menor s\u00edntoma, una persona podr\u00e1 someterse a ex\u00e1menes radiol\u00f3gicos a distancia en el Hospital Digital.  En caso de detecci\u00f3n de una imagen que podr\u00eda ser un tumor cancer\u00edgeno, el paciente podr\u00e1 tener acceso casi inmediato a una biopsia para confirmar su diagn\u00f3stico y eventualmente someterse a una cirug\u00eda, si es que fuera necesaria. Todo este proceso se hace exponencialmente m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido y eficiente gracias a la Salud Digital. Con esto, tambi\u00e9n mejora el acceso a servicios de salud de especialidad, ya que la tecnolog\u00eda que existe hoy en d\u00eda, permite el intercambio de informaci\u00f3n de manera r\u00e1pida y eficiente. Con su ayuda, los pacientes no tendr\u00e1n que recorrer grandes distancias para tener acceso a mejores sistemas de salud o m\u00e9dicos que podr\u00e1n consultar el expediente. Siguiendo el ejemplo de pa\u00edses de primer mundo (en Noruega el programa TeleECG y en Inglaterra El Swinfen Charitable Trust Telemedicine Network), el gobierno chileno est\u00e1 realizando una fuerte inversi\u00f3n en mam\u00f3grafos de alta calidad para ponerlos en funcionamiento en diversos consultorios del pa\u00eds. Estos sistemas radiol\u00f3gicos podr\u00e1n enviar sus resultados r\u00e1pidamente a los hospitales digitales, en donde especialistas de los m\u00e1s altos niveles podr\u00e1n analizarlos y hacer un diagn\u00f3stico adecuado. El sistema, aun cuando depende de varios factores, podr\u00eda resultar en la detecci\u00f3n temprana de casos de c\u00e1ncer, lo cual evitar\u00eda largas enfermedades e incluso fatalidades que podr\u00edan haber sido prevenidas de haber contado con un diagn\u00f3stico oportuno y un tratamiento adecuado y a tiempo. Hoy en d\u00eda, los avances tecnol\u00f3gicos tales como la digitalizaci\u00f3n de expedientes m\u00e9dicos, la trasmisi\u00f3n de datos en l\u00ednea y los sistemas que integran a distintos sectores por medio de servicios digitales, han revolucionado la manera en que operan los sistemas de salud. Se ha creado una red de servicios mucho m\u00e1s amplia y diversa, que ha permitido mayores accesos a mejores cuidados y prestaciones de la m\u00e1s alta calidad. Esto empieza a permear y crecer en Am\u00e9rica Latina. Las nuevas pol\u00edticas de salud pretenden concentrarse en los pacientes y su bienestar. El poder dar acceso a mejores prestaciones sin importar la situaci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica, geogr\u00e1fica o social de un paciente, es sin duda una prioridad para el gobierno chileno y de varios otros pa\u00edses latinoamericanos, que buscan acercar la ayuda m\u00e9dica a su poblaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s desfavorecida.
