This means that those painful blood samples, especially for children, could be a thing of the past in the near future.<\/p><p>The MIDIS (Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion) chose to seek non-invasive methods to diagnose this disease, which in Peru affects 43.5% of children under three years of age. It is also a matter of inclusion because the South American country has areas away from medical care that need accurate diagnosis. With the financing of Inn\u00f3vate Peru they developed a simple, non-invasive and low-cost system that determines the levels of anemia in children in just seconds. For it to function, no special equipment is needed, although there is an Internet connection.<\/p><p>The way in which the application works is as follows: the first step is to take from a cell phone several photographs of the lower eyelid of the child's eye. Then you must complete some basic data such as age and sex. This information is sent through an app to a data center located at the Cayetano Heredia University. There, in real time, the servers receive the information, process the image and estimate the level of hemoglobin to obtain the final result.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6ec3b27 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6ec3b27\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>To achieve the most accurate results, the team has had to train an artificial intelligence algorithm. Con la nueva tecnolog\u00eda ser\u00e1 posible proveer a los menos afortunados con una manera de monitorear a sus hijos. Ante esta necesidad, el doctor Mirko Zimic y su equipo multidisciplinario de la UPCH lanzaron su propuesta y fue aceptada por el MIDIS. Con el financiamiento de Inn\u00f3vate Per\u00fa desarrollaron un sistema simple, no invasivo y de bajo costo que determina los niveles de anemia en ni\u00f1os en solo segundos. Para que funcione no se necesitan equipos especiales, aunque s\u00ed conexi\u00f3n a Internet. La manera en que la aplicaci\u00f3n funciona es la siguiente: el primer paso es tomar desde un celular varias fotograf\u00edas del p\u00e1rpado inferior del ojo del ni\u00f1o. A continuaci\u00f3n se deben completar algunos datos b\u00e1sicos como edad y sexo. Esta informaci\u00f3n se env\u00eda a trav\u00e9s de una app a un centro de datos ubicado en la universidad Cayetano Heredia. All\u00ed, en tiempo real, los servidores reciben la informaci\u00f3n, procesan la imagen y hacen una estimaci\u00f3n del nivel de hemoglobina para obtener el resultado final. Para lograr los resultados m\u00e1s certeros, el equipo ha tenido que entrenar a un algoritmo de inteligencia artificial. El doctor Zimic ha explicado que se han realizado m\u00e1s de 600 pruebas en formas de muestras de sangre a ni\u00f1os de Lima Norte y Canta.
