In Brazil, federal universities and their students actively participated in the creation of strategies to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The SoU Ciencia organization conducted a survey of Federal Universities in Brazil, in which 59% of the institutions claimed to have carried out actions in favor of telehealth. For example, the establishment of new telemedicine centers, Digital Health systems in association with laboratories, municipalities, state governments or the Unified Health System (SUS).<\/p>

The survey also showed the importance of student participation in the development of tools and applications for patient monitoring, data visualization, georeferencing, and real-time database development.<\/p>

However, the survey report highlighted care modalities developed by universities, for example, teleguidance. This format was applied to work on disease prevention during the pandemic, which involved various tools such as phone calls, emails, and web platforms.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Federal University of Acre (UFAC) launched the "Dial Coronavirus" initiative in partnership with the Acre Telehealth Center and the Health Secretariats at the state and municipal levels. This strategy managed to monitor confirmed COVID-19 cases through WhatsApp on a daily basis.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On the other hand, he also highlighted the telemonitoring carried out by students from the Federal University of Maranh\u00e3o (UFMA), which allowed the remote monitoring of health professionals from the UFMA Hospital infected with COVID-19.<\/p>

Likewise, the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) launched a platform called Telecovid-19 that served for automated digital monitoring, using teletriage techniques. Thanks to this initiative, it was possible for patients at the UFMG clinics to pass through a filter in which they were classified by priority according to their situation: emergency, urgent, moderate or mild case.<\/p>

For its part, the Federal University of Goi\u00e1s (UFG), through multidisciplinary teams of nursing, nutrition, physiotherapy, doctors, among others, conducted teleconsultations with suspected patients or with confirmed diagnoses of COVID-19.<\/p>

Other notable cases were those of the Federal University of Paran\u00e1 (UFPR), which provided teleconsultations to public servants and university employees; or the telerehabilitation program implemented by the Federal University of Sao Carlos (UFSCar).<\/p>

In this sense, Brazil was one of the countries in Latin America with the greatest progress in terms of Digital Health and telehealth in its university systems.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

En Brasil las universidades federales y sus estudiantes participaron activamente en la creaci\u00f3n de estrategias para contener la pandemia de COVID-19. La organizaci\u00f3n SoU Ciencia realiz\u00f3 una encuesta a Universidades Federales de Brasil, en ella el 59% de las instituciones aseguraron haber realizado acciones en favor de la telesalud. Por ejemplo, el establecimiento de nuevos centros de telemedicina, sistemas de Salud Digital en asociaci\u00f3n con laboratorios, municipios, gobiernos estatales o el Sistema \u00danico de Salud (SUS). La encuesta tambi\u00e9n mostr\u00f3 la importancia de la participaci\u00f3n de los estudiantes en el desarrollo de herramientas y aplicaciones para el monitoreo de pacientes, visualizaci\u00f3n de datos, georreferenciaci\u00f3n y desarrollo de bases de datos en tiempo real. Sin embargo, el reporte de la encuesta destac\u00f3 modalidades de atenci\u00f3n desarrolladas por universidades, por ejemplo, la tele orientaci\u00f3n. Este formato fue aplicado para trabajar en la prevenci\u00f3n de enfermedades durante la pandemia, el cual involucr\u00f3 diversas herramientas como llamadas telef\u00f3nicas, correos electr\u00f3nicos y plataformas web. La Universidad Federal de Acre (UFAC), puso en marcha la iniciativa “Dial Coronavirus” en alianza con el Centro de Telesalud de Acre y las Secretar\u00edas de Salud a nivel estatal y municipal. Esta estrategia logr\u00f3 monitorear diariamente los casos de COVID-19 confirmados a trav\u00e9s de WhatsApp. Por otra parte, tambi\u00e9n destac\u00f3 el telemonitoreo realizado por estudiantes de la Universidad Federal de Maranh\u00e3o (UFMA), que permiti\u00f3 el seguimiento de manera remota de profesionales de la salud del Hospital de la UFMA contagiados de COVID-19. Asimismo, la Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), lanz\u00f3 una plataforma llamada Telecovid-19 que sirvi\u00f3 para el monitoreo digital automatizado, utilizando t\u00e9cnicas de teletriaje. Gracias a esta iniciativa fue posible que pacientes de las cl\u00ednicas de la UFMG pasaran por un filtro en el que eran clasificados por prioridad seg\u00fan su situaci\u00f3n: emergencia, urgencia, caso moderado o leve. Por su parte, la Universidad Federal de Goi\u00e1s (UFG), por medio de equipos multidisciplinarios de enfermer\u00eda, nutrici\u00f3n, fisioterapia, m\u00e9dicos, entre otros, realizaron teleconsultas a pacientes sospechosos o con diagn\u00f3sticos confirmados de COVID-19. Otros casos destacables fueron los de la Universidad Federal de Paran\u00e1 (UFPR) que brind\u00f3 teleconsultas a servidores p\u00fablicos y empleados de la universidad; o el programa de telerrehabilitaci\u00f3n implementado por la Universidad Federal de Sao Carlos (UFSCar). En este sentido, Brasil fue uno de los pa\u00edses en Latinoam\u00e9rica con mayor avance en t\u00e9rminos de Salud Digital y telesalud en sus sistemas universitarios.
