The Digital Health Ecosystem (EDS) seeks to automate medical processes at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The EDS strategy began in 2020 at the IMSS with the aim of simplifying the operation of outpatient, emergency, hospitalization, surgery, psychology, oncology and physical rehabilitation systems. The institute is currently working on the development of modules for radiotherapy, breast, prostate, and cervical cancer care, as well as for nursing, social work, and nutrition.<\/p>

In this sense, the EDS seeks to align computer processes that establish a single point of contact for health professionals and administrative staff, and offer a more agile service for beneficiaries. Currently the EDS offers digital consultations, access to clinical history, in the modules mentioned above.<\/p>

This strategy is being developed by the Coordination of Digital Services and Health and Administrative Information and the Directorates of Innovation and Technological Development and Medical Benefits. The goal is to incorporate the largest number of medical units and hospitals at the three levels of care.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In this way, professionals can know how each patient was treated at the first and second level of care, in their hospitalization or in a High Specialty Medical Unit (UMAE). Likewise, the traceability of medical notes, the evolution of laboratory studies and even disabilities is possible.<\/p>

Dr. Italy Adriana Arvizu, technical coordinator of Medical Risks, Quality and Patient Safety of the IMSS, explained that: \u201cIt is a very important moment for the Institute, in which there has been a synergy between Information Technologies with the health care part; In this joint effort we were able to make automation a reality in the First, Second and Third Level of Care on the same platform, with all the benefits that this has for our patients and have much faster processes in medical care processes\u201d.<\/p>

El Ecosistema Digital en Salud (EDS) busca la automatizaci\u00f3n de procesos m\u00e9dicos en el Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS). La estrategia del EDS comenz\u00f3 en 2020 en el IMSS con el objetivo de simplificar la operaci\u00f3n de sistemas de consulta externa, urgencias, hospitalizaci\u00f3n, cirug\u00eda, psicolog\u00eda, oncolog\u00eda y rehabilitaci\u00f3n f\u00edsica. Actualmente el instituto se encuentra trabajando en el desarrollo de m\u00f3dulos de radioterapia, atenci\u00f3n de c\u00e1ncer de mama, pr\u00f3stata, y c\u00e9rvix, as\u00ed como para enfermer\u00eda, trabajo social y nutrici\u00f3n. En este sentido el EDS busca alinear procesos inform\u00e1ticos que establezcan un punto de contacto \u00fanico para los profesionales de salud y personal administrativo, y ofrecer un servicio m\u00e1s \u00e1gil para los beneficiarios. Actualmente el EDS ofrece consultas digitales, acceso a historial cl\u00ednico, en los m\u00f3dulos mencionados anteriormente. Esta estrategia est\u00e1 siendo desarrollada por la Coordinaci\u00f3n de Servicios Digitales y de Informaci\u00f3n de Salud y Administrativos y las direcciones de Innovaci\u00f3n y Desarrollo Tecnol\u00f3gico y de Prestaciones M\u00e9dicas. El objetivo es incorporar la mayor cantidad de unidades m\u00e9dicas y hospitales en los tres niveles de atenci\u00f3n. \u201cSe trata de tener un solo modelo mediante una plataforma donde se gestione desde que ingresa el o la derechohabiente en la sala de Urgencias, que pueda pasar a una etapa de hospitalizaci\u00f3n o bien a una cirug\u00eda, y tener este proceso completamente integrado\u201d, explic\u00f3 el titular de Servicios Digitales y de Informaci\u00f3n de Salud y Administrativos, Oscar Reyes Miguel. De esta forma los profesionales pueden conocer como fue atendido cada paciente en el primer y segundo nivel de atenci\u00f3n, en su hospitalizaci\u00f3n o en una Unidad M\u00e9dica de Alta Especialidad (UMAE). Asimismo, es posible la trazabilidad de notas m\u00e9dicas, la evoluci\u00f3n de estudios de laboratorio e incluso las incapacidades. La Dra. Italy Adriana Arvizu, coordinadora t\u00e9cnica de Riesgos M\u00e9dicos, Calidad y Seguridad del Paciente del IMSS, explic\u00f3 que: \u201cEs un momento muy importante para el Instituto, en el cual se ha dado una sinergia entre las Tecnolog\u00edas de la Informaci\u00f3n con la parte de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica; en esta conjunci\u00f3n de esfuerzo pudimos hacer realidad la automatizaci\u00f3n en el Primer, Segundo y Tercer Nivel de Atenci\u00f3n en una misma plataforma, con todas las bondades que tiene esto para nuestros pacientes y tener procesos mucho m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidos en los procesos atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica\u201d. En Baja California, el sistema del EDS se encuentra implementado todos los hospitales del IMSS, siendo el primer estado en alcanzar esta meta.
