Therefore, it is necessary to create and develop new techniques to improve diagnoses with this type of cognitive impairment. The article published in <em>Nature Communications<\/em>: \u201cMultimodal deep learning for the evaluation of Alzheimer&#039;s disease dementia\u201d, explores the development of a deep learning framework for the diagnosis of dementia.<\/p><p>The deep learning model was able to identify people with normal cognition, with mild cognitive impairment and with dementia. The data collected to train this model was derived from routinely collected clinical information, as well as demographic data, medical history, neuropsychological tests, neuroimaging, and functional assessments.<\/p><p>The diagnostic accuracy of the frames was evaluated by comparing them with practicing neurologists and neuroradiologists. El modelo de aprendizaje profundo logr\u00f3 identificar a personas con cognici\u00f3n normal, con deterioro cognitivo leve y con demencia.\u00a0 Los datos recopilados para entrenar a este modelo se obtuvieron de informaci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica recopilada de forma rutinaria, as\u00ed como datos demogr\u00e1ficos, historial m\u00e9dico, pruebas neuropsicol\u00f3gicas, neuroim\u00e1genes y evaluaciones funcionales. La precisi\u00f3n diagn\u00f3stica de los marcos fue evaluada al compararlos con el ejercicio de los neur\u00f3logos y neuro radi\u00f3logos. Posteriormente, los investigadores aplicaron m\u00e9todos de interpretabilidad por medio de visi\u00f3n por computadora, para mostrar que los patrones espec\u00edficos de la enfermedad hab\u00edan sido identificados por sus modelos. En este sentido, los modelos lograron rastrear patrones distintos de cambios degenerativos en todo el cerebro, as\u00ed como la presencia de lesiones neuropatol\u00f3gicas. \u201cNuestro trabajo demuestra metodolog\u00edas para validar predicciones computacionales con est\u00e1ndares establecidos de diagn\u00f3stico m\u00e9dico\u201d, explican los autores. El estudio present\u00f3 diversos modelos de aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico y aprendizaje profundo, capaces de procesar datos cl\u00ednicos multimodales, y as\u00ed realizar diagn\u00f3sticos diferenciales de Alzheimer. \u201cEs importante destacar que nuestros modelos son capaces de funcionar con combinaciones flexibles de datos de im\u00e1genes y no de im\u00e1genes, y su rendimiento se generaliza bien en m\u00faltiples conjuntos de datos que presentan una amplia gama de estados cognitivos y subtipos de demencia\u201d, explica el art\u00edculo. \u00a0 No obstante, los autores reconocieron las limitaciones del estudio como la falta de diagn\u00f3sticos de demencia mixta, ya que el modelo identifica por defecto solamente el diagn\u00f3stico de Alzheimer.
