The objective of the study was to determine the factors and perspectives that favor the adoption, expansion, sustainability, and diffusion of technology-based nutrition care models, specifically in hospital and outpatient settings.<\/p>

\u201cTechnology-supported models of care are disrupting traditional health and nutrition care, emerging as a feasible and sustainable way to optimize equitable access to services,\u201d the study explains. In addition, asynchronous platforms such as mobile apps or web tools are ideal for patients to easily access information at any time, working as a self-management approach.<\/p>

Tools such as telehealth have been harnessed by nutrition professionals for patients with chronic conditions in different settings. In addition, the pandemic accelerated the use of this type of care model.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

For the study, the authors used individual semi-structured interviews with 31 health service providers as a method. In this sense, they used the framework of non-adoption, abandonment and challenges of scaling, diffusion and sustainability (NASS, for its acronym in English), which measures the success of models supported by technology.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cThe NASSS framework incorporates seven domains, namely condition; The technology<\/strong>; the value proposition; the system adoption<\/strong>; the organization<\/strong>; the larger context and integration and adaptation<\/strong> over time\u201d, explain the authors.<\/p>

The researchers found that technology-supported models of care benefited diverse groups of patients. For example, in the Condition variable of the NASSS, they showed that these nutritional care models were adequate for most groups of patients with chronic diseases.<\/p>

And regarding Adoption, the dieticians explained that they had to adapt to the way of providing care, whether by telephone or by video conference. They also recognized that the pandemic intensified the use of care models with technological support.<\/p>

Regarding the perceived barriers, the authors detail that it is also subject to the previous experiences and skills of the patients, or to the lack of confidence of the health providers in the technology. However, the enabling factors that support the NASS criteria allow face-to-face care to coexist with technological models that also facilitate the work of professionals, in this case nutrition.<\/p>

El objetivo del estudio fue determinar los factores y perspectivas que favorecen la adopci\u00f3n, ampliaci\u00f3n, sostenibilidad y difusi\u00f3n de modelos de atenci\u00f3n nutricional basados en tecnolog\u00eda, espec\u00edficamente en entornos hospitalarios y de atenci\u00f3n ambulatoria. \u201cLos modelos de atenci\u00f3n respaldados por la tecnolog\u00eda est\u00e1n alterando la atenci\u00f3n tradicional de la salud y la nutrici\u00f3n, emergiendo como una forma factible y sostenible de optimizar el acceso equitativo a los servicios\u201d, explica el estudio. Adem\u00e1s, plataformas asincr\u00f3nicas como apps m\u00f3viles o herramientas web, son ideales para que los pacientes puedan acceder f\u00e1cilmente a la informaci\u00f3n en cualquier momento, funcionando como un enfoque de autogesti\u00f3n. Herramientas como la telesalud, han sido aprovechadas por los profesionales de la nutrici\u00f3n para pacientes con afecciones cr\u00f3nicas en diferentes entornos. Adem\u00e1s, la pandemia aceler\u00f3 el uso de este tipo de modelos de atenci\u00f3n. Para el estudio, los autores utilizaron como m\u00e9todo entrevistas semiestructuradas individuales a 31 proveedores de servicios de salud. En este sentido utilizaron el marco de no adopci\u00f3n, abandono y desaf\u00edos del escalamiento, difusi\u00f3n y sostenibilidad (NASS, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s), el cual mide el \u00e9xito de modelos respaldados por tecnolog\u00eda. \u201cEl marco NASSS incorpora siete dominios, a saber, la condici\u00f3n; La tecnolog\u00eda; la propuesta de valor; el sistema de adopci\u00f3n; la organizaci\u00f3n; el contexto m\u00e1s amplio y la integraci\u00f3n y adaptaci\u00f3n a lo largo del tiempo\u201d, explican loa autores. Los investigadores encontraron que los modelos de atenci\u00f3n respaldados por tecnolog\u00eda beneficiaron a diversos grupos de pacientes. Por ejemplo, en la variable de Condici\u00f3n del NASSS, mostraron que estos modelos de atenci\u00f3n nutricional fueron adecuados para la mayor\u00eda de los grupos de pacientes con enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas. Y sobre la Adopci\u00f3n, los dietistas explicaron que tuvieron que adaptarse a la forma de brindar atenci\u00f3n, ya fuese telef\u00f3nica o por video conferencia. De igual forma reconocieron que la pandemia intensific\u00f3 el uso de modelos de atenci\u00f3n con apoyo tecnol\u00f3gico.
