Since 2020, the Salvadoran Social Security Institute (ISSS) has registered more than 116 thousand consultations made through the "Dr. ISSS online" telemedicine program; more than 26 thousand correspond to the year 2022. <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Dr. ISSS Online strategy has attended more than 116,000 teleconsultations to its policyholders, promoting the use of new technologies and unnecessary travel. In this sense, the director of the ISSS, M\u00f3nica Ayala explained that telemedicine in El Salvador has been strengthened during the pandemic.<\/p>

This strategy began on April 20, 2020, during the first months of the pandemic in El Salvador. Little more than two years later, this teleconsultation program continues its objective of decentralizing health services and offers guidance on symptoms of COVID-19 and other diseases.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Dr. ISSS online, offers care 24 hours a day by phone through line 127, via text message, or by video calls through email consultaenlinea@isss.gob.sv<\/a>. In addition to offering medical care and guidance, doctors who are part of this strategy can prescribe medications to their patients.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In February of this year, the Integrated Health System of the government of El Salvador, reinforced this service by adding 50 doctors to attend teleconsultations. \u201cFurthermore, we have made a leap in quality in the Dr. ISSS online service with the implementation of the electronic prescription and the home delivery of medicines\u201d, explained director Ayala in February.<\/p>

So far in 2022, this service has provided more than 26,000 teleconsultation services and has prescribed at least 4,000 medications each month.<\/p>

On the other hand, Ayala explained that they are currently working on a pilot test in an automated specialty clinic, in which the user will enter their Unique Identity Document into a machine to access their electronic clinical file.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Desde el 2020, el Instituto Salvadore\u00f1o del Seguro Social (ISSS) ha registrado m\u00e1s de 116 mil consultas realizadas a trav\u00e9s del programa de telemedicina “Dr. ISSS en L\u00ednea”; m\u00e1s de 26 mil corresponden al a\u00f1o 2022. La estrategia Dr. ISSS en L\u00ednea ha atendido m\u00e1s de 116 mil teleconsultas a sus asegurados, promoviendo el uso de nuevas tecnolog\u00edas y desplazamientos innecesarios. En este sentido, la directora del ISSS, M\u00f3nica Ayala explic\u00f3 que la telemedicina en El Salvador de ha fortalecido durante la pandemia. Esta estrategia comenz\u00f3 el 20 de abril de 2020, durante los primeros meses de la pandemia en El Salvador. Poco m\u00e1s de dos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s este programa de teleconsultas contin\u00faa su objetivo de descentralizar los servicios de salud y ofrece orientaci\u00f3n por s\u00edntomas de COVID-19 y otras enfermedades. Dr. ISSS en L\u00ednea, ofrece atenci\u00f3n las 24 horas del d\u00eda v\u00eda telef\u00f3nica a trav\u00e9s de la l\u00ednea 127, v\u00eda mensaje de texto, o por videollamadas mediante el correo consultaenlinea@isss.gob.sv. Adem\u00e1s de ofrecer atenci\u00f3n y orientaci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica, los m\u00e9dicos que forman parte de esta estrategia pueden prescribir medicamentos a sus pacientes. En febrero de este a\u00f1o, el Sistema Integrado de Salud del gobierno de El Salvador, reforz\u00f3 este servicio adicionando 50 m\u00e9dicos para atender teleconsultas. \u201cAdem\u00e1s, hemos dado un salto de calidad en el servicio de Dr. ISSS en L\u00ednea con la implementaci\u00f3n de la receta electr\u00f3nica y el despacho domiciliar de medicamentos\u201d, explicaba en febrero la directora Ayala. En lo que va del 2022, este servicio ha brindado m\u00e1s de 26 mil servicios de teleconsulta y ha prescrito al menos 4 mil medicamentos cada mes. Por otra parte, Ayala explic\u00f3 que actualmente se encuentran trabajando en una prueba piloto en un consultorio de especialidades automatizado, en el que el usuario introducir\u00e1 a una m\u00e1quina su Documento \u00danico de Identidad, para acceder a su expediente cl\u00ednico electr\u00f3nico.
