The Ministry of Health of Panama has incorporated 32 new establishments to the telemedicine modality.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

As part of the activities of the Council of Ministers of Health of Central America and the Dominican Republic (Comisca), the Telemedicine Forum was held, with the aim of making known the advances in the region of the new models of provision of services of health and innovation in health systems.<\/p>

From March 2021<\/a>, the congress of Panama, ratified by the president, approved Law 313, whose purpose is to promote a telehealth system throughout the country, to reduce the workload of hospitals and medical professionals.<\/p>

Thanks to this law, professionals from the Ministry of Health (Minsa) and the Social Security Fund (CSS), can carry out preventive or initial diagnoses and monitor patients remotely.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

During the telemedicine forum held on May 31, the head of the Minsa, Luis Francisco Sucre, explained that, since the beginning of the pandemic, telemedicine services have been implemented in the primary care network. Well, this service is now implemented in 12 of the 15 health regions of Panama.<\/p>

He also highlighted that 32 health establishments belonging to the Minsa have adopted telemedicine as a care modality, not only for doctor-patient care, but also for the consultation of general practitioners with specialists.<\/p>

On the other hand, Sucre highlighted the cooperation and telemedicine strategies in which Panama has been involved, for example with Brazil and the European Union.<\/a> In this way, Panama has become one of the countries with the greatest progress in telehealth and telemedicine in the Central American region.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El Ministerio de Salud de Panam\u00e1 ha incorporado 32 nuevos establecimientos a la modalidad de telemedicina. Como parte de las actividades del Consejo de Ministros de Salud de Centroam\u00e9rica y Rep\u00fablica Dominicana (Comisca), se llev\u00f3 a cabo el Foro de Telemedicina, con el objetivo de dar a conocer los avances en la regi\u00f3n de los nuevos modelos de prestaci\u00f3n de servicios de salud y la innovaci\u00f3n en los sistemas de salud. Desde marzo de 2021, el congreso de Panam\u00e1, ratificado por el presidente, aprobaron la Ley 313, cuyo prop\u00f3sito es promover un sistema de telesalud en todo el pa\u00eds, para disminuir la carga de trabajo de hospitales y profesionales m\u00e9dicos. Gracias a esta ley, profesionales del Ministerio de Salud (Minsa) y de la Caja de Seguro Social (CSS), pueden realizar diagn\u00f3sticos preventivos o iniciales y monitoreo de pacientes de manera remota. Durante el foro de telemedicina llevado a cabo el 31 de mayo, el titular del Minsa, Luis Francisco Sucre, explic\u00f3 que, desde el comienzo de la pandemia, se han implementado servicios de telemedicina en la red de atenci\u00f3n primaria. Pues este servicio ahora se encuentra implementado en 12 de las 15 regiones sanitarias de Panam\u00e1. Asimismo, destac\u00f3 que 32 establecimientos de salud pertenecientes al Minsa, han adoptado la telemedicina como modalidad de atenci\u00f3n, no solo para la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dico-paciente, sino tambi\u00e9n para la consulta de m\u00e9dicos generales con especialistas. Por otra parte, Sucre resalt\u00f3 las estrategias de cooperaci\u00f3n  y telemedicina en las que Panam\u00e1 se ha involucrado, por ejemplo con Brasil y la Uni\u00f3n Europea.
