The National Telemedicine Center (CENATE) of the Social Security of Peru (EsSalud), reached this month the figure of 2 million virtual consultations since its creation.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The CENATE was inaugurated in October 2020, by the government of Peru, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to provide services to EsSalud beneficiaries. He currently offers consultations in various medical specialties for adult and pediatric patients. From October 2020 to April 2022, the CENATE registers more than 2 million 160 thousand virtual queries attended.<\/p>

EsSalud reported on the non-COVID specialties with the greatest demand in the center, for example, in endocrinology they carried out more than 48 thousand telemedicine visits, and in ophthalmology they carried out more than 35 thousand teleconsultations.<\/p>

Likewise, CENATE carried out remote consultations in other specialties such as: otorhinolaryngology, urology, dermatology, neurology, rheumatology, pediatrics, pulmonology, among others.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

However, one of the highest figures corresponds to follow-up teleconsultations for patients who were infected with COVID-19 and presented complications, since these represent more than 16% of the total number of consultations offered in the aforementioned period. That is, more than 343 thousand virtual consultations approximately.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

However, Dr. Sergio Machado, director of CENATE, explained that the teleradiology service, which offers readings of x-rays, tomography, mammography, among others, more than 366 thousand virtual consultations were attended. This department performs these interventions daily for the timely diagnosis of diseases or to continue their treatment.<\/p>

"In this year and a half of operation, the telemedicine service has made it possible to provide timely care in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses to more than two million policyholders, from Lima to the entire country," explained the director of CENATE.<\/p>

El Centro Nacional de Telemedicina (CENATE) del Seguro Social de Per\u00fa (EsSalud), alcanz\u00f3 este mes la cifra de 2 millones de consultas virtuales desde su creaci\u00f3n. Desde octubre 2020 hasta abril de 2022, el CENATE registra m\u00e1s de 2 millones 160 mil consultas virtuales atendidas. EsSalud inform\u00f3 sobre las especialidades no COVID con mayor demanda en el centro, por ejemplo, en endocrinolog\u00eda realizaron m\u00e1s de 48 mil atenciones por telemedicina, y en oftalmolog\u00eda realizaron m\u00e1s de 35 mil teleconsultas. Asimismo, el CENATE realiz\u00f3 consultas a distancia en otras especialidades como: otorrinolaringolog\u00eda, urolog\u00eda, dermatolog\u00eda, neurolog\u00eda, reumatolog\u00eda, pediatr\u00eda, neumolog\u00eda, entre otras. Sin embargo, una de las cifras m\u00e1s altas corresponde a las teleconsultas de seguimiento a pacientes que se contagiaron de COVID-19 y presentaron complicaciones, pues estas representan m\u00e1s 16% del total de las consultas ofrecida en el periodo mencionado.  Es decir, m\u00e1s de 343 mil consultas virtuales aproximadamente. No obstante, el Dr. Sergio Machado, director del CENATE, explic\u00f3 que el servicio de teleradiolog\u00eda, que ofrece lecturas de radiograf\u00edas, tomograf\u00edas, mamograf\u00edas, entre otros, se atendieron m\u00e1s de 366 mil consultas virtuales.
