In March, the annual conference on Digital Health and health systems of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) was held, which included an event with Latin American leaders and decision makers.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The HIMSS22 global conference began on March 16, and also included the Latin America Summit HIMSS22, where experts, specialists, and public officials shared experiences on digital transformation in the health sector and new trends in Digital Health.<\/p>

One of the main topics of the meeting was the pandemic as a driver of digital transformation in the health sector. For example, the massive adoption of telemedicine and electronic health records (EHR) and the like.<\/p>

During the opening of the Latin America Summit HIMSS22, Dr. Fernando Ruiz G\u00f3mez, Minister of Health of Colombia, highlighted the importance of having equitable health systems that provide universal coverage. \u201cOnly to the extent that we can make progress in ensuring that the information reaches the institutions before the patient can we have a health system with the quality that our patients deserve. In this sense, he recognized that the challenges of Latin American countries are similar and despite the fact that the health systems of each country have their own processes, this does not mean that they cannot work together.<\/p>

On the other hand, Anal\u00eda Baum, head of the General Directorate of Health Information Systems of the City of Buenos Aires, presented the experiences of her management in terms of digital transformation during the pandemic.<\/p>

As Baum explained, the CBA began its digital transformation process in 2016, starting at the first level of care. In such a way that when the pandemic arrived, the city had various channels of communication and attention, such as the service through WhatsApp implemented two years earlier.<\/p>

Likewise, during the pandemic it was necessary to deploy other tools such as remote consultation, digital prescription, chatbots with health information and other tools for remote monitoring such as questionnaires on self-reported symptoms, among others.<\/p>

In this way, Baum highlighted the work of the initiatives and projects presented during the conference. And he considered that the region is in a great moment of digital maturity and open to collaboration.<\/p>

The Latin America Summit conference included other professionals from the public and private sectors, for example, Araly Palacios from Amazon Web Services, Silvia Heringer, from the Albert Einstein Hospital in Brazil, or V\u00edctor Castillo, president of the Colombian Cardiovascular Foundation, among others. .<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

En marzo se llev\u00f3 a cabo la conferencia anual de Salud Digital y sistemas de salud de la organizaci\u00f3n Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), que incluy\u00f3 un evento con l\u00edderes y tomadores de decisiones latinoamericanos. La conferencia global HIMSS22, comenz\u00f3 el 16 de marzo, y tambi\u00e9n incluy\u00f3 el Latin America Summit HIMSS22, donde expertos, especialistas y funcionarios p\u00fablicos compartieron experiencias sobre la transformaci\u00f3n digital en el sector salud y las nuevas tendencias de Salud Digital. Uno de los temas principales del encuentro fue la pandemia como impulsor de la transformaci\u00f3n digital en el sector salud. Por ejemplo, la adopci\u00f3n masiva de la telemedicina y de la historia cl\u00ednica electr\u00f3nica (HCE) y similares. Durante la apertura del Latin America Summit HIMSS22, el Dr. Fernando Ruiz G\u00f3mez, ministro de Salud de Colombia, resalt\u00f3 la importancia de contar con sistemas de salud equitativos y que brinden cobertura universal. De esta forma, explic\u00f3 que un sistema integral centrado en el paciente debe necesariamente basarse en la interoperabilidad. \u201cSolamente en la medida que podamos avanzar en lograr que la informaci\u00f3n llegue a las instituciones antes que el paciente podemos tener un sistema de salud con la calidad que nuestros pacientes merecen. Hoy en d\u00eda no la tenemos, ese es el reto que tenemos como pa\u00eds en Colombia: limitar la fragmentaci\u00f3n de los servicios de salud con base a la transformaci\u00f3n digital\u201d, explic\u00f3. En este sentido, reconoci\u00f3 que los retos de los pa\u00edses latinoamericanos son similares y a pesar de que los sistemas de salud de cada pa\u00eds cuentan con sus propios procesos, esto no significa que no se pueda trabajar en conjunto. Por otra parte, Anal\u00eda Baum, titular de la Direcci\u00f3n General de Sistemas de Informaci\u00f3n Sanitaria de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, expuso las experiencias de su direcci\u00f3n en cuanto a transformaci\u00f3n digital durante la pandemia. Seg\u00fan explic\u00f3 Baum, la CBA comenz\u00f3 su proceso de transformaci\u00f3n digital desde 2016, iniciando en el primer nivel de atenci\u00f3n. De tal forma que cuando lleg\u00f3 la pandemia, la ciudad contaba con diversos canales de comunicaci\u00f3n y atenci\u00f3n como el servicio de atenci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de WhatsApp implementado dos a\u00f1os antes. Asimismo, durante la pandemia fue necesario el despliegue de otras herramientas como la consulta remota, la receta digital, chatbots con informaci\u00f3n en salud y otras herramientas para el monitoreo remoto como cuestionarios sobre s\u00edntomas auto informados, entre otras. De esta forma, Baum, resalt\u00f3 el trabajo de las iniciativas y proyectos presentados durante la conferencia. Y consider\u00f3 que la regi\u00f3n se encuentra en un gran momento de madurez digital y abierta a la colaboraci\u00f3n. La conferencia de Latin America Summit, incluy\u00f3 otros profesionales del sector p\u00fablico y privado, por ejemplo, Araly Palacios de Amazon Web Services, Silvia Heringer, del Hospital Albert Einstein en Brasil, o V\u00edctor Castillo, presidente de la Fundaci\u00f3n Cardiovascular de Colombia, entre otros.
