We are especially focused on host-targeted therapies, which may be more resistant to future variants of the virus.\u201d<\/p><p>In this way, they identified various combinations of drugs to act together to attack viral replication in the early part of the disease. El estudio detalla que las etapas tempranas y tard\u00edas de una infecci\u00f3n por COVID-19 cuando es grave, tienen distintas caracter\u00edsticas, por ellos los investigadores del UCL, desarrollaron un modelo computacional que puede reproducir las distintas fases de COVID-19. Previamente los investigadores hab\u00edan desarrollado un enfoque que tuvo resultados exitosos en la b\u00fasqueda de f\u00e1rmacos para el tratamiento contra c\u00e1ncer. En este caso, desarrollaron un mapa en red de la interacci\u00f3n del virus SARS-CoV-2, y su interacci\u00f3n con c\u00e9lulas epiteliales de los pulmones, que se relacionan con el COVID-19 en su forma grave. La profesora Jasmin Fisher del Instituto del C\u00e1ncer de la UCL y, autora principal del estudio, explic\u00f3 lo siguiente: \u201cNos dimos cuenta de que pod\u00edamos modelar la infecci\u00f3n por el SARS-CoV-2 utilizando un marco computacional desarrollado originalmente en mi laboratorio para predecir combinaciones de tratamiento personalizadas para pacientes con c\u00e1ncer y utilizarlo para predecir combinaciones eficaces de f\u00e1rmacos reutilizados para tratar el Covid-19\u201d. En este sentido, el estudio detalla lo siguiente sobre el proceso para encontrar las combinaciones correctas de medicamentos: \u201cUtilizamos este modelo para examinar miles de combinaciones de f\u00e1rmacos con el fin de encontrar tratamientos que bloqueen las interacciones clave entre el virus y el hu\u00e9sped, importantes para la replicaci\u00f3n viral, o la desregulaci\u00f3n pat\u00f3gena de la respuesta inmunitaria. Nos centramos especialmente en las terapias dirigidas al hu\u00e9sped, que pueden ser m\u00e1s resistentes a futuras variantes del virus\u201d. De esta forma, identificaron varias combinaciones de medicamentos para que act\u00faen juntos para atacar la replicaci\u00f3n viral en la parte temprana de la enfermedad. Los medicamentos identificados, se encontraban licenciados o en las fases finales de desarrollo y los modelos de computadora mostraron los impactos que tienen en la replicaci\u00f3n del virus y en la respuesta del hu\u00e9sped.
