The Unique Digital Health File (EDUS) of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), has registered more than 100 million medical attentions.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The digital transformation project in Costa Rica has been in the making for a decade, since May 2012 the CCSS approved the EDUS implementation project and the following year it was declared a project of public and national interest.<\/p>

One of the greatest advances occurred in 2015 when its implementation began in the second and third level of care, which achieved the automation of the care services network. Finally, in September 2018, EDUS completed its implementation process at the three levels of care.<\/p>

In February 2022, the EDUS managed to exceed 100 million medical attentions, since its implementation through its system and the network of CCSS hospitals. In addition to the 106 million that correspond to medical care, EDUS registers so far more than 561 million medical prescriptions delivered and 39 million requests for laboratory tests.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cIn addition to being successful, EDUS is a resource in the process of continuous improvement to keep up with the great extension of the service offered by the bank and will continue its development as a fundamental support for data registration, in order to optimize security, opportunity and quality of care, as well as for institutional decision-making\u201d, explained the director of the EDUS project, Manuel Rodr\u00edguez Arce.<\/p>

EDUS has been internationally recognized at the World Summit on the Information Society, when in 2021, it received the award in the category "Governments and stakeholders in the promotion of ICTs in the objective of good health and well-being".<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El Expediente Digital \u00danico en Salud (EDUS) de la Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social (CCSS), ha registrado m\u00e1s de 100 millones de atenciones m\u00e9dicas. El proyecto de transformaci\u00f3n digital en Costa Rica lleva una d\u00e9cada gest\u00e1ndose, desde mayo de 2012 la CCSS, aprob\u00f3 el proyecto de implementaci\u00f3n del EDUS y al a\u00f1o siguiente fue declarado como un proyecto de inter\u00e9s p\u00fablico y nacional. Uno de los mayores avances ocurri\u00f3 en 2015 cuando comenz\u00f3 su implementaci\u00f3n en el segundo y tercer nivel de atenci\u00f3n, lo que logr\u00f3 la automatizaci\u00f3n de la red de servicios de atenci\u00f3n. Finalmente, en septiembre de 2018 el EDUS complet\u00f3 su proceso de implementaci\u00f3n en los tres niveles de atenci\u00f3n. En febrero de 2022, el EDUS logr\u00f3 superar los 100 millones de atenciones m\u00e9dicas, desde su implementaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de su sistema y la red de hospitales de la CCSS.  Adem\u00e1s de los 106 millones que corresponden a atenciones m\u00e9dicas, EDUS registra hasta el momento m\u00e1s de 561 millones de prescripciones m\u00e9dicas entregadas y 39 millones de solicitudes de ex\u00e1menes de laboratorio. \u201cAdem\u00e1s de exitoso EDUS es un recurso en proceso de mejora continua para estar a la altura de la gran extensi\u00f3n del servicio que ofrece la caja y continuar\u00e1 su desarrollo como un apoyo fundamental para el registro de datos, en aras de optimizar la seguridad, oportunidad y calidad de la atenci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como para la toma de decisiones institucionales”, explic\u00f3 el director del proyecto del EDUS, Manuel Rodr\u00edguez Arce.
