The Latin American and Caribbean Center for Health Sciences Information (BIREME) of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is collaborating with academic and government authorities in Brazil for the development of Virtual Health Libraries.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In Brazil, for example, they have worked with state and municipal health ministries, universities, to develop libraries with the PAHO Virtual Health Library (VHL) scheme, with the aim of promoting access to information. In total, BIREME, PAHO\/WHO Brazil and the Ministry of Health have cooperated and worked with more than 2,000 institutions for the operation and maintenance of libraries that work under the VHL model.<\/p>

El Centro Latinoamericano y del Caribe de Informaci\u00f3n en Ciencias de la Salud (BIREME) de la Organizaci\u00f3n Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), se encuentra colaborando con autoridades acad\u00e9micas y de gobierno de Brasil para el desarrollo de Bibliotecas Virtuales en Salud. La OPS se encuentra colaborando continuamente en programas y proyectos de cooperaci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica que favorecen y promueven la difusi\u00f3n y el acceso a la informaci\u00f3n, el intercambio de experiencias y la transparencia, t\u00e9rminos alineados con el Plan Estrat\u00e9gico 2020-2025 y los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS). El BIREME forma parte importante de estas estrategias que lleva a cabo la OPS en pa\u00edses latinoamericanos, ya que impulsa acciones que buscan entre otras cosas el acceso equitativo a la informaci\u00f3n, para desarrollar y mejorar productos y servicios que facilitan la publicaci\u00f3n de informaci\u00f3n y evidencia t\u00e9cnica y cient\u00edfica en salud. En Brasil por ejemplo han trabajado con ministerios de salud estatales y municipales, universidades, para desarrollar bibliotecas con el esquema de la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS) de la OPS, con el objetivo de promover el acceso a la informaci\u00f3n. El Ministerio de Salud de Brasil ha sido un colaborador clave de la OPS para realizar estas acciones, pues, adem\u00e1s, forma parte permanente del Comit\u00e9 de Gobernanza del BIREME. En total el BIREME, la OPS\/OMS Brasil y el Ministerio de Salud han cooperado y trabajado con m\u00e1s de 2 mil instituciones para la operaci\u00f3n y mantenimiento de las bibliotecas que funcionan bajo el modelo de la BVS. De esta forma gracias a la cooperaci\u00f3n constante han desarrollado proyectos como el fortalecimiento de la Red de Bibliotecas del Sistema \u00danico en Salud (SUS); el mantenimiento y actualizaci\u00f3n de la BVS del Ministerio de Salud de Sao Paulo: el desarrollo de l\u00edneas de acci\u00f3n para la visibilidad t\u00e9cnica del SUS, entre otros.
