The Uruguayan Ministry of Public Health (MSP) reported that telemedicine services will be reactivated due to the increase in infections of the omicron variant of COVID-19.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

At a press conference, the Undersecretary of Public Health, Jos\u00e9 Luis Satdji\u00e1n, announced that, given the increase in cases of the omicron variant in the country, remote medical care and telemedicine services will be resumed, with the purpose of avoiding crowds in Medical centers.<\/p>

Previously, during the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 and also at the beginning of 2021, the provision of the MSP was to implement remote medical consultations and suspend face-to-face consultations and non-urgent or oncological surgeries, as preventive measures to avoid COVID-19 infections. 19.<\/p>

These provisions were applied from March to May 2020 and subsequently from October to December of the same year. And last year from January to February it was again necessary to suspend these activities in hospitals. El Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica (MSP), de Uruguay, inform\u00f3 que los servicios de telemedicina se van a reactivar ante el incremento de contagios de la variante \u00f3micron de COVID-19. En conferencia de prensa el subsecretario de Salud P\u00fablica, Jos\u00e9 Luis Satdji\u00e1n, anunci\u00f3 que, ante el incremento de casos de la variante \u00f3micron en el pa\u00eds, se retomar\u00e1n los servicios de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a distancia y la telemedicina, con el prop\u00f3sito de evitar aglomeraciones en centros m\u00e9dicos. Anteriormente, durante el inicio de la pandemia en 2020 y tambi\u00e9n al inicio del 2021, la disposici\u00f3n del MSP, fue implementar consultas m\u00e9dicas a distancia y suspender consultas presenciales y cirug\u00edas no urgentes, ni oncol\u00f3gicas, como medidas de prevenci\u00f3n para evitar contagios de COVID-19. De marzo a mayo de 2020 fueron aplicadas estas disposiciones y posteriormente de octubre a diciembre del mismo a\u00f1o. Y el a\u00f1o pasado de enero a febrero nuevamente fue necesario suspender dichas actividades en los hospitales. Esta vez el MSP busca evitar esas situaciones y lograr una mejor gesti\u00f3n de los recursos disponibles. La nueva estrategia plantea brindar servicios telemedicina para pacientes que solo requieran consultas, y en hospitales dar prioridad a los pacientes que requieren cirug\u00eda. \u201cEstamos teniendo una circulaci\u00f3n viral muy alta, con lo cual preferimos atender mediante telemedicina aquellas llamadas o pacientes que se puedan atender mediante ese mecanismo\u201d, explic\u00f3 Satdji\u00e1n. De igual forma el subsecretario explic\u00f3 que la atenci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de call centers ser\u00e1 reforzada para mejorar los servicios de atenci\u00f3n a distancia y resolver dudas sobre el estado de salud de la poblaci\u00f3n, detectar contagios de COVID-19 y brindar informaci\u00f3n sobre el tratamiento. Ante una nueva ola de contagios, el gobierno de Uruguay busca sacar el m\u00e1ximo provecho de los recursos disponibles y no cerrar ning\u00fan departamento de hospitales para no perjudicar a pacientes que est\u00e1n en espera de cirug\u00eda \u201cHay departamentos que est\u00e1n cumpliendo en tiempo y forma con la atenci\u00f3n, con los hisopados, con el rastreo.
