The Teletriage system is a joint project of the Pan American Health Organization, the University of Chile and international development agencies from Japan and Germany.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

This remote care model was implemented in ten Family Health Centers (CESFAM), which are part of the South Metropolitan Health Service (SSMS) in Chile. Teletriage allows health professionals in primary health establishments to attend and prioritize patient care through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).<\/p>

Teletriage is an online tool that, through a form, is capable of solving and improving the efficiency of the process of accessing and prioritizing patients' emergencies, according to PAHO. In this way, users enter their request, complete the form, which is later reviewed by the professionals of the medical establishment, and subsequently derive and request tests, doctors, schedule an appointment or resolve care by phone.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The strategy was successful, since 1 out of 10 visits could be resolved remotely, without the need for patients to attend one of the CESFAMs. In addition, attentions are usually resolved in an average of two days. "When the possibility of doing something different in this pandemic period was raised to see how we facilitated people's access, especially in the Primary Care part, which is the first door, the entrance where people arrive," explained the director of the program Dr. Carmen Aravena.<\/p>

El sistema Teletriage es un proyecto conjunto de la Organizaci\u00f3n Panamericana de la Salud, la Universidad de Chile y agencias de desarrollo internacional de Jap\u00f3n y Alemania. Este modelo de atenci\u00f3n a distancia fue implementado en diez Centro de Salud Familiar (CESFAM), que forman parte del Servicio de Salud Metropolitano Sur (SSMS) en Chile. El Teletriage, permite que los profesionales de salud en establecimientos de salud primaria atiendan y prioricen la atenci\u00f3n de pacientes a trav\u00e9s del uso de Tecnolog\u00edas de la Informaci\u00f3n y la Comunicaci\u00f3n (TICs). El Teletriage es una herramienta en l\u00ednea que a trav\u00e9s de un formulario es capaz de resolver y mejorar la eficiencia del proceso de acceso y priorizaci\u00f3n de urgencias de los pacientes, seg\u00fan explica la OPS. De esta manera los usuarios ingresan su solicitud, completan el formulario, que posteriormente es revisado por los profesionales del establecimiento m\u00e9dico, y posteriormente deriva y solicitan ex\u00e1menes, m\u00e9dicos, agendan una cita o bien resuelven la atenci\u00f3n v\u00eda telef\u00f3nica. La estrategia result\u00f3 exitosa, ya que 1 de cada 10 atenciones pudo resolverse de manera remota, sin la necesidad de que pacientes asistieran a uno de los CESFAM. Adem\u00e1s, las atenciones suelen resolverse en un promedio de dos d\u00edas. Agilizando los procesos de atenci\u00f3n y priorizando a los pacientes que si requieren atenci\u00f3n en el establecimiento. \u201cCuando se plante\u00f3 la posibilidad de hacer algo distinto en este per\u00edodo de pandemia para ver c\u00f3mo facilit\u00e1bamos el acceso de la gente, sobre todo en la parte de Atenci\u00f3n Primaria, que es la primera puerta, la entrada donde la gente llega\u201d, explic\u00f3 la directora del programa la Dra. Carmen Aravena. Por otra parte, el Dr. Mario Cruz Asesor Internacional en Sistemas y Servicios de Salud de OPS Chile, explic\u00f3 que \u201cpara nosotros es de gran inter\u00e9s estar participando en este seminario porque representa un hito en un proyecto que consideramos ha sido muy productivo y que ser\u00e1 muy valioso para la gesti\u00f3n de los equipos de APS, no solamente en Chile, sino que tiene un potencial para convertirse en un bien p\u00fablico regional, y eso fue lo que interes\u00f3 a la OPS y a la OMS para ser parte de esta iniciativa\u201d.
