The Government of Ecuador will launch a pilot project for telemedicine and teleeducation via satellite, to benefit rural areas.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

With the support of a telecommunications company, the Ministry of Telecommunications and the Information Society, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Public Health and the Vice Presidency of Ecuador, they will implement two pilot projects of teleeducation and telemedicine via satellite.<\/p>

The telemedicine project will consist of the installation of a remote teleconsultation system in a rural parish located in Cuasha in the Province of Pastaza in the northeast of the country, this system will connect with a remote monitoring system that will be installed in the General Hospital of Puyo.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Through the teleconsultation system, various medical examinations can be carried out and support in diagnoses. For example, medical professionals will have the opportunity to perform EKGs and perform real-time inspections of patients' skin, irises, throats and ears. The Vice President of Ecuador, Alfredo Borrero, highlighted the importance of projects that provide access to health services to remote populations: \u201cthere are areas of Ecuador that are very difficult to access, which makes it impossible for patients to reach their health centers. Definitely, we must use those mechanisms, such as this telemedicine solution that we are seeing here, that help us to make this access to health total and that includes not only us doctors, but all health personnel in general\u201d.<\/p>

On the other hand, the pilot tele-education system will benefit five schools that do not have Internet connectivity and will promote the educational development of more than 400 students in these schools.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El Gobierno de Ecuador pondr\u00e1 en marcha un proyecto piloto de telemedicina y teleeducaci\u00f3n v\u00eda sat\u00e9lite, para beneficiar zonas rurales. Con el apoyo de una compa\u00f1\u00eda de telecomunicaciones, el Ministerio de Telecomunicaciones y de la Sociedad de la Informaci\u00f3n, el Ministerio de Educaci\u00f3n, el Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica y la Vicepresidencia de Ecuador, implementar\u00e1n dos proyectos piloto de teleeducaci\u00f3n y telemedicina v\u00eda sat\u00e9lite. El proyecto de telemedicina constar\u00e1 de la instalaci\u00f3n de un sistema de teleconsulta remota en una parroquia rural ubicada en Cuasha en la Provincia de Pastaza al nororiente del pa\u00eds, este sistema conectar\u00e1 con un sistema de monitorizaci\u00f3n remota que ser\u00e1 instalado en el Hospital General de Puyo. A trav\u00e9s del sistema de teleconsulta se pueden realizar diversas exploraciones m\u00e9dicas y apoyar en diagn\u00f3sticos. Por ejemplo, los profesionales m\u00e9dicos tendr\u00e1n la oportunidad de realizar electrocardiogramas y realizar inspecciones en tiempo real de la piel, iris, garganta y o\u00eddos de los pacientes. Adem\u00e1s, cuenta con un monitor, c\u00e1mara y micr\u00f3fonos para realizar videoconferencias. El vicepresidente de Ecuador, Alfredo Borrero, resalt\u00f3 la importancia de proyectos que brinden acceso a servicios de salud a poblaciones alejadas: \u201cexisten \u00e1reas del Ecuador de muy dif\u00edcil acceso, lo que imposibilita que los pacientes puedan llegar a sus centros de salud. Definitivamente, debemos utilizar aquellos mecanismos, como esta soluci\u00f3n de telemedicina que estamos viendo aqu\u00ed, que nos ayuden a que ese acceso a la salud sea total y que englobe no s\u00f3lo a nosotros los m\u00e9dicos, sino a todo el personal de salud en general\u201d. Por otra parte, el sistema piloto de teleeducaci\u00f3n beneficiar\u00e1 a cinco escuelas que no tienen conectividad a internet y promover\u00e1 el desarrollo educativo de m\u00e1s de 400 alumnos de estas escuelas.
