In the San Juan de Dios General Hospital located in Guatemala, a hospital management system (SGH) was implemented three years ago. They shared their experience at the RECAINSA Digital Health Forum.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Three years ago, the San Juan de Dios General Hospital, a public hospital belonging to the Guatemalan government, implemented a SGH, with the purpose of improving efficiency in patient care and in internal hospital processes. Before implementing the new system, explains Dr. Julia Elisa Ni\u00f1o, deputy technical director, the hospital had a very old system with many flaws, so it was necessary to update it. In this way, they implemented a SGH, which includes an electronic clinical record and a comprehensive information access system.<\/p>

The introduction of new information systems for the benefit of patients and health professionals has achieved improvements in various areas of the hospital. \u201cIt has allowed us to test the Red Eyed platform in a very demanding environment with a massive amount of data and in a critical time system that has allowed us to collect a very important amount of information for statistics and the development of hospital indicators and epidemiological surveillance. in real time\u201d, Viktor Amilkar Reyna, in charge of the SGH analysis, development and implementation team at the hospital.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Thanks to the application of the SGH in the hospital, a more efficient control of the electronic clinical file has been achieved, and the number of physical files has been reduced. Through this system it is possible to know details about each patient's visit to the hospital from the first consultation to the most recent, the doctors who have attended him, specialties and the treatment he has undergone.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The system has been useful for all hospital departments, for example, the epidemiology and statistics departments, which by having digitized data can streamline tasks and save resources.<\/p>

Regarding having a system that integrates a large part of the aspects of the hospital for the generation of information, Amilkar Reyna explained the following: "It has allowed us to automate many processes, we have our X-ray laboratory, biological laboratories, and also other modules such as pathology, blood bank, and others. We even have parking, budget, purchases, we have all the modules in the same system, that gives us great fluidity when it comes to analyzing data and being able to mix variables from one module or others, to be able to analyze different metrics\u201d.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

En el Hospital General San Juan de Dios ubicado en Guatemala, se implement\u00f3 desde hace tres a\u00f1os un sistema de gesti\u00f3n hospitalaria (SGH). Compartieron su experiencia en el Foro de Salud Digital de la RECAINSA. Desde hace tres a\u00f1os el Hospital General San Juan de Dios, hospital p\u00fablico perteneciente al gobierno de Guatemala, implement\u00f3 un SGH, con el prop\u00f3sito de mejorar la eficiencia en la atenci\u00f3n a pacientes y en procesos internos del hospital. Antes de implementar el nuevo sistema, seg\u00fan explica la Dra. Julia Elisa Ni\u00f1o, sub directora t\u00e9cnica, el hospital contaba con un sistema muy antiguo y con muchas fallas, por lo que era necesario actualizarlo. De esta forma implementaron un SGH, que incluye expediente cl\u00ednico electr\u00f3nico y un sistema integral de acceso a la informaci\u00f3n. La introducci\u00f3n de nuevos sistemas de informaci\u00f3n para el beneficio de los pacientes y de los profesionales de la salud ha logrado mejoras en diversas \u00e1reas del hospital. \u201cNos ha permitido probar la plataforma Red Eyed en un ambiente muy exigente con una cantidad masiva de datos y en un sistema de tiempo cr\u00edtico que nos ha permitido recopilar una cantidad de informaci\u00f3n muy importante para estad\u00edstica y desarrollo de indicadores del hospital y la vigilancia epidemiol\u00f3gica en tiempo real\u201d, Viktor Amilkar Reyna, encargado del equipo de an\u00e1lisis, desarrollo e implementaci\u00f3n del SGH en el hospital. Gracias a la aplicaci\u00f3n del SGH en el hospital, se ha logrado un control m\u00e1s eficiente del expediente cl\u00ednico electr\u00f3nico, y se ha disminuido la cantidad de expedientes f\u00edsicos. A trav\u00e9s este sistema es posible conocer detalles sobre cada visita de un paciente al hospital desde la primera consulta hasta la m\u00e1s reciente, los m\u00e9dicos que lo han atendido, especialidades y el tratamiento que ha llevado. El sistema ha sido de utilidad para para todos los departamentos del hospital, por ejemplo, los departamentos de epidemiolog\u00eda y de estad\u00edstica, que al contar con datos digitalizados pueden agilizar tareas y ahorrar recursos. Sobre contar con un sistema que integre gran parte de los aspectos del hospital para la generaci\u00f3n de informaci\u00f3n, Amilkar Reyna, explic\u00f3 lo siguiente: \u201cNos ha permitido automatizar muchos procesos, tenemos nuestro laboratorio de rayos X, laboratorios biol\u00f3gicos, y adem\u00e1s otros m\u00f3dulos como patolog\u00eda, banco de sangre, y otros. Inclusive tenemos parqueo, presupuesto, compras, todos los m\u00f3dulos los tenemos en el mismo sistema, eso nos da una gran fluidez a la hora de analizar datos y poder mezclar variables de un m\u00f3dulo o de otros, para poder analizar diferentes m\u00e9tricas\u201d.
