During the Digital Health Forum of the Central American Health Informatics Network (RECAINSA), representatives from various Latin American countries such as Argentina, Chile, Peru, presented their experiences with Digital Health strategies in their countries.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

On the first day of activities of the RECAINSA Digital Health Forum, which is part of the Digital Health Week global initiative, brought together a panel of experts in Digital Health from Latin America. The specialists shared their experiences within the governments of their countries in relation to public policies and actions in favor of health and digital transformation.<\/p>

Cintia Speranza representing Argentina is National Director of Health Information Systems. Since 2013, he has worked at the National Ministry of Health, promoting public policies in Digital Health, for different programs and projects. For example, the IMPULSA Federal Digital Health Program, launched in November 2020.<\/p>

May Chomal\u00ed, executive director of the National Center for Health Information Systems (CENS) in Chile, who has participated in various public and private projects for digital transformation, especially in hospitals.<\/p>

Styp Canto, representative of Peru, is a specialist in various Digital Health issues such as telemedicine, interoperability, big data, with more than seven years of experience. He currently works as an IT specialist in the Directorate of Telemedicine of the Ministry of Health of Peru and as vice president in the Ibero-American Association of Telehealth and Telemedicine.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The representative of Argentina highlighted the importance of the federalized system that her country has, which has been key to accepting the new standards for digital transformation and has promoted the creation of the National Digital Health Network and interoperability. "What we spread the most is that there be the largest number of possible technologies, the largest number of software providers, whether public or private, that there be developments in universities, that they be open source (technologies)," explained Speranza.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In addition, he highlighted the role of Digital Health during the pandemic, and during the vaccination processes. Finally, he explained that the next projects will be related to change management and patient-centered strategies.<\/p>

Canto, representative of Peru, highlighted the achievements of telehealth and telemedicine in Peru, since more than 30 million visits have been provided since March 2020. While the numbers before the pandemic did not even exceed a thousand visits per year. In addition, he explained that professionals have had to adapt to this new mode of providing services.<\/p>

Given the creation of a digital culture over the last year, the challenge for the Ministry of Health in Peru is to continue telemedicine services regardless of the pandemic and improve connectivity throughout the country.<\/p>

The representative of Chile and the CENS explained the importance of health professionals being trained for digital transformation. "There were processes that have failed because there was no change management, there must be people trained in all these aspects," he explained.<\/p>

The work of the CENS has recently been recognized by the Pan American Health Organization, since they have various teaching models for state HL7 FHIR, and other training areas.<\/p>

Durante el Foro de Salud Digital de la Red Centroamericana de Inform\u00e1tica en Salud (RECAINSA), representantes de diversos pa\u00edses de Latinoam\u00e9rica como Argentina, Chile Per\u00fa, presentaron sus experiencias con las estrategias sobre Salud Digital en sus pa\u00edses. En el primer d\u00eda de actividades del Foro de Salud Digital de la RECAINSA, que forma parte de la iniciativa global Digital Health Week, reuni\u00f3 a un panel de expertos en Salud Digital de Latinoam\u00e9rica. Los especialistas compartieron sus experiencias dentro de los gobiernos de sus pa\u00edses con relaci\u00f3n a pol\u00edticas publicas y acciones a favor de la salud y la transformaci\u00f3n digital. Cintia Speranza representante de Argentina es directora nacional de Sistemas de Informaci\u00f3n en Salud. Desde 2013 trabaja en el Ministerio de Salud de la Naci\u00f3n, impulsando pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas en Salud Digital, para diferentes programas y proyectos. Por ejemplo, el Programa Federal de Salud Digital IMPULSA, lanzado en noviembre de 2020. May Chomal\u00ed, directora ejecutiva del Centro Nacional en Sistemas de Informaci\u00f3n en Salud (CENS) en Chile, que ha participado en diversos proyectos p\u00fablicos y privados para la transformaci\u00f3n digital, especialmente en hospitales. Styp Canto, representante de Per\u00fa, es especialista en diversos temas de Salud Digital como la telemedicina, interoperabilidad, big data, con m\u00e1s de siete a\u00f1os de experiencia. Actualmente se desempe\u00f1a como especialista de TI en la Direcci\u00f3n de Telemedicina del Ministerio de Salud de Per\u00fa y como vicepresidente en la Asociaci\u00f3n Iberoamericana de Telesalud y Telemedicina. La representante de Argentina, destac\u00f3 la importancia del sistema federalizado con el que cuenta su pa\u00eds, el cual ha sido clave para aceptar las nuevas normas para la transformaci\u00f3n digital y ha promovido la creaci\u00f3n de la Red Nacional de Salud Digital y la interoperabilidad. \u201cNosotros lo que m\u00e1s difundimos es que haya la mayor cantidad de tecnolog\u00edas posibles, la mayor cantidad de proveedores de software sean p\u00fablicos o privados, que haya desarrollos en universidades, que sean (tecnolog\u00edas) open source\u201d, explic\u00f3 Speranza. Adem\u00e1s, destac\u00f3 el papel de la Salud Digital durante la pandemia, y durante los procesos de vacunaci\u00f3n. Finalmente, explic\u00f3 que los pr\u00f3ximos proyectos estar\u00e1n relacionados con la gesti\u00f3n de cambio y las estrategias centradas en los pacientes. Canto, representante de Per\u00fa, resalt\u00f3 los logros de la telesalud y la telemedicina en Per\u00fa, pues se han brindado desde marzo de 2020, m\u00e1s de 30 millones de atenciones. Mientras que los n\u00fameros antes de la pandemia no superaban ni siquiera las mil atenciones anuales. Adem\u00e1s, explic\u00f3 que los profesionales han tenido que adaptarse a esta nueva modalidad de prestaci\u00f3n de servicios. Ante la creaci\u00f3n de una cultura digital durante el \u00faltimo a\u00f1o, el reto del Ministerio de Salud en Per\u00fa, es continuar los servicios de telemedicina independientemente de la pandemia y mejorar la conectividad en todo el pa\u00eds. La representante de Chile y del CENS, explic\u00f3 la importancia de que los profesionales de salud est\u00e9n capacitados para la transformaci\u00f3n digital. \u201cHubo procesos que han fracasado porque no hubo gesti\u00f3n del cambio, tiene que haber personas formadas en todos esos aspectos\u201d, explic\u00f3. El trabajo del CENS ha sido reconocido recientemente por la Organizaci\u00f3n Panamericana de la Salud, ya que cuentan con diversos modelos de ense\u00f1anza de estadales HL7 FHIR, y otras \u00e1reas de capacitaci\u00f3n.
