In Mexico there is still no specific law in charge of regulating remote medical care, telemedicine or health technologies. For this reason, several proposals have been presented in the Senate of the Republic. <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

After the impact of the pandemic on the demand for telemedicine services and remote medical care, the Senate of the Republic began working on initiatives that would promote this type of solutions and tools.<\/p>

In September 2020, Senator Alejandra Noem\u00ed Reynoso S\u00e1nchez presented a proposal that requires the Federal Health Secretariat to report on the actions carried out by the National Center for Technological Excellence in Health (CENETEC), and thus make known the progress of telemedicine in Mexico.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

For January of this year, Reynoso S\u00e1nchez presented a report on the actions of CENETEC and highlighted the importance of telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, he explained that, to design legal instruments in favor of telemedicine, and to promote public policies on the subject, it is necessary to know the current panorama of this in Mexico.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The initiative was turned over to the Senate Health Commission.<\/p>

Recently, on November 7, 2021, Senator Sylvana Beltrones presented a new initiative for the regulation of remote medical care. The senator also proposes a reform of the General Health Law. En M\u00e9xico a\u00fan no existe una ley espec\u00edfica que se encargue de regular la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a distancia, la telemedicina o las tecnolog\u00edas en salud. Por ello en el Senado de la Rep\u00fablica se han presentado varias propuestas. Tras el impacto de la pandemia en la demanda de servicios de telemedicina y atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a distancia, el Senado de la Rep\u00fablica comenz\u00f3 a trabajar en iniciativas que impulsaran este tipo de soluciones y herramientas. En septiembre de 2020, la senadora Alejandra Noem\u00ed Reynoso S\u00e1nchez, present\u00f3 una proposici\u00f3n que exige a la Secretar\u00eda de Salud Federal, a informar sobre las acciones realizadas por el Centro Nacional de Excelencia Tecnol\u00f3gica en Salud (CENETEC), y as\u00ed dar a conocer el avance de la telemedicina en M\u00e9xico. Para enero de este a\u00f1o, Reynoso S\u00e1nchez present\u00f3 un informe sobre las acciones del CENETEC y destac\u00f3 la importancia de la telemedicina durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Adem\u00e1s, detall\u00f3 que, para dise\u00f1ar instrumentos legales en favor de la telemedicina, y para promover pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas en el tema es necesario conocer el panorama actual de esta en M\u00e9xico. Recientemente, el 7 de noviembre de 2021, la senadora Sylvana Beltrones present\u00f3 una nueva iniciativa para la regulaci\u00f3n de la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a distancia. La senadora tambi\u00e9n propone una reforma de la Ley General de Salud. De igual forma la iniciativa fue turnada a las comisiones de salud y de Estudios Legislativos.
