Since 2015, the Paraguayan health system has carried out encephalography studies through telemedicine and free of charge, which has managed to expand the service nationwide. <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In 2015, Paraguay became one of the few Latin American countries that has an encephalography sample system that allowed it to carry out a national mapping of epilepsy. Through a telemedicine network installed in various health centers in Paraguay, it was possible to carry out this mapping.<\/p>

Through encephalographies it is possible to diagnose or check certain neurological pathologies. In this way, from 2015 to 2020, more than 12 thousand studies were carried out. The demand was growing every year as explained by Dr. Carlos Arbo, specialist in neurology and neurophysiology, and Pedro Galv\u00e1n, director of Telemedicine.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Encephalography is a study of the central nervous system, through electrodes placed on the head. It is a non-invasive study, and does not require the patient to take any medication. \u201cIt is the measurement of the spontaneous electrical activity of the cerebral cortex and that gives information about its functioning at the time of the study\u201d, explained Dr. Arbo.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The national epilepsy mapping strategy allowed the Paraguayan authorities to have a medical infrastructure to continue telemedicine services in later years. This also contributed to the training of new health professionals and technicians for the correct use of this type of equipment that involves electrodes and specific devices.<\/p>

\u201cA signal that goes wrong is not synonymous with a pathology, it is because it may be due to a poorly placed device, malpractice at the time of placement or because the patient was not sufficiently well treated or prepared, or being in a hostile or noisy environment. , it has to be the right one. The role of medicine<\/strong><\/p>

Thanks to telemedicine, encephalography could be implemented in more cities with large populations, in addition to the capital, Asunci\u00f3n. Desde 2015 el sistema de salud de Paraguay realiza estudios de encefalograf\u00eda a trav\u00e9s de telemedicina y de forma gratuita, lo que logr\u00f3 expandir el servicio a nivel nacional. En 2015 Paraguay se convirti\u00f3 en uno de los pocos pa\u00edses latinoamericanos que cuenta con un sistema de muestras de encefalograf\u00edas que le permiti\u00f3 realizar un mapeo nacional de epilepsia. A trav\u00e9s de una red de telemedicina instalada en diversos centros de salud en Paraguay fue posible realizar este mapeo. Mediante las encefalograf\u00edas es posible diagnosticar o comprobar ciertas patolog\u00edas neurol\u00f3gicas. De esta forma desde 2015 a 2020, se realizaron m\u00e1s de 12 mil estudios. La demanda fue creciendo cada a\u00f1o seg\u00fan explic\u00f3 el Dr. Carlos Arbo, especialista en neurolog\u00eda y neurofisiolog\u00eda, y Pedro Galv\u00e1n, director de Telemedicina. La encefalograf\u00eda es un estudio del sistema nervioso central, a trav\u00e9s de electrodos colocados en la cabeza. Se trata de un estudio no invasivo, y tampoco requiere que el paciente tome alg\u00fan medicamento. “Es la medici\u00f3n de la actividad el\u00e9ctrica espontanea de la corteza cerebral y que da informaci\u00f3n sobre su funcionamiento en el momento del estudio”, explic\u00f3 el Dr. Arbo. La estrategia del mapeo nacional de epilepsia permiti\u00f3 a las autoridades paraguayas contar con una infraestructura m\u00e9dica para continuar con los servicios de telemedicina en a\u00f1os posteriores. Lo que tambi\u00e9n contribuy\u00f3 a la formaci\u00f3n de nuevos profesionales y t\u00e9cnicos sanitarios para la utilizaci\u00f3n correcta de este tipo de equipos que involucran electrodos y dispositivos espec\u00edficos. \u201cUna se\u00f1al que sale mal no es sin\u00f3nimo de una patolog\u00eda es porque puede ser por un artefacto mal colocado, una mala praxis en el momento de colocar o porque el paciente no fue suficientemente bien tratado o preparado, o estar en un ambiente hostil o ruidoso, tiene que ser el adecuado. Se est\u00e1 instalando en el pa\u00eds una capacidad\u201d, explic\u00f3 Galv\u00e1n. El rol de la medicina Gracias a la telemedicina la encefalograf\u00eda pudo implementarse en m\u00e1s ciudades con gran poblaci\u00f3n, adem\u00e1s de la capital, Asunci\u00f3n. La telemedicina permiti\u00f3 que habitantes de departamentos como Central, Paraguar\u00ed, Misiones, Itap\u00faa, \u00d1eembuc\u00fa, Amambay, Alto Paran\u00e1, Guair\u00e1, y Caaguaz\u00fa, recibieran este tipo de servicios. \u201cHemos ido creciendo de forma exponencial, hay una muy buena recepci\u00f3n de la encefalograf\u00eda v\u00eda telemedicina en el pa\u00eds, y que brinda una respuesta adecuada a las necesidades de lo que ped\u00edan los colegas para los pacientes. Estamos desde el 2015, nos iniciamos con 9 equipos distribuidos en centros de salud y hospitales de cabecera de todo el pa\u00eds, empezamos a trabajar\u201d, explic\u00f3 Arbo.
