The San Mart\u00edn region in Peru recently inaugurated the first TeleUCI service nationwide thanks to an alliance with the Ministry of Health (Minsa) and the Ate Vitarte Emergency Hospital in Lima. This system will interconnect with various regions of the country.<\/p>

ICUs are generally installed in third and fourth level hospitals. Therefore, first and second level hospitals do not specialize in intensive care, and through TeleUCI it is possible to communicate hospitals with ICUs with hospitals that do not have these tools and thus respond better to medical emergencies.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In addition, it is not only a question of medical infrastructure but also of the number of specialists, a doctor specialized in the ICU must undergo various training stages before practicing, so the TeleUCI units take advantage of medical specialists, especially in regions where they do not have with a large number of medical professionals.<\/p>

Leslie Zevallos Quintero, head of the Regional Health Directorate (Diresa), recognized the progress that has been made in the last year in hospitals in the interior of the country. He also spoke of the importance of having a unique hospital network in Peru.<\/p>

San Mart\u00edn es el primer departamento en implementar servicios de Telemedicina para Unidad de Ciudades Intensivos (UCI) en Per\u00fa. Le regi\u00f3n de San Mart\u00edn en Per\u00fa inaugur\u00f3 recientemente el primer servicio de TeleUCI a nivel nacional gracias a una alianza con el Ministerio de Salud (Minsa) y el Hospital de Emergencia Ate Vitarte de Lima. Este sistema se interconectar\u00e1 con diversas regiones del pa\u00eds. Las UCI generalmente se encuentran instaladas en hospitales de tercer y cuarto nivel de atenci\u00f3n. Por lo tanto, los hospitales de primer y segundo nivel no se especializan en el cuidado intensivo, y a trav\u00e9s de TeleUCI es posible comunicar hospitales con UCI con hospitales que no cuentan con estas herramientas y as\u00ed responder de mejor forma a emergencias m\u00e9dicas. Adem\u00e1s, no solo es cuesti\u00f3n de infraestructura m\u00e9dica sino de n\u00famero de especialistas, un m\u00e9dico especializado en UCI debe cursar diversas etapas de formaci\u00f3n antes de ejercer, por lo que las unidades de TeleUCI, aprovechan los especialistas m\u00e9dicos, sobre todo en regiones donde no cuentan con un gran n\u00famero de profesionales m\u00e9dicos. Leslie Zevallos Quintero, titular de la Direcci\u00f3n Regional de Salud (Diresa), reconoci\u00f3 los avances que se han obtenido en el \u00faltimo a\u00f1o en los hospitales del interior del pa\u00eds. Tambi\u00e9n habl\u00f3 de la importancia de contar con una red hospitalaria \u00fanica en Per\u00fa. El departamento de San Mart\u00edn comenz\u00f3 a incorporarse de forma gradual a la Red Nacional de TeleSalud en 2017 en primera instancia se uni\u00f3 el hospital de Tarapoto y el hospital rural San Jos\u00e9 de Sisa.
