The Central Telemedicine Centers (CeTeC) are support centers for remote monitoring of COVID-19 cases by telephone. They were created by the Ministry of Health of the province of Buenos Aires and are generally operated by universities.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Since April 2020, some of the CeTeCs began to operate in the province of Buenos Aires. In August 2020, the National University of Mar del Plata (UNMdP) through the Superior School of Medicine, enabled its CeTeC, thanks to the work of more than 120 volunteers from various careers.<\/p>

A year after the opening of this telemedicine center at the UNMdP, the work continues and the volunteers make between 450 and 500 follow-up phone calls daily, according to the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health. The students continue to participate in this project, and in a year of work they have made more than 100,000 follow-up phone calls to suspected cases of COVID-19 in Mar del Plata.<\/p>

V\u00edctor Baz\u00e1n, head of the CeTeC of this university, explained that some students have scholarships, and others are volunteers, all belong to careers such as medicine, nursing, social work, occupational therapy and psychology.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Volunteers carry out telephone monitoring through a platform called \u201cCOVID Assistance\u201d, donated by the Ministry of Health. And it is the government of the Municipality that sends a list of the people who have been tested and thus know suspicious cases. In this way they locate these people to monitor them and avoid complications of the disease.\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cWhat the students do is call the right people daily to contact them and carry out an assessment; There is always a lot of fear because of the symptoms they are having, but it is always explained to them that a large part of the symptoms are part of mild symptoms so that fear does not grow. Los Centros de Telemedicina Central (CeTeC) son centros de apoyo para el monitoreo remoto de casos de COVID-19 v\u00eda telef\u00f3nica. Fueron creados por el Ministerio de Salud de la provincia de Buenos Aires y son operados generalmente por universidades. V\u00edctor Baz\u00e1n, responsable del CeTeC de esta universidad, explic\u00f3 que algunos alumnos cuentan con becas, y otros son voluntarios, todos pertenecen a carreras como medicina, enfermer\u00eda, trabajo social, terapia ocupacional y psicolog\u00eda. \u201cEl objetivo principal es cortar la cadena de contagios porque est\u00e1 comprobado que esta tarea de seguimiento es una acci\u00f3n sanitaria muy eficaz para lograr ese objetivo\u201d, explic\u00f3 el tambi\u00e9n profesor de medicina en la Escuela Superior de Medicina a un medio local. Los voluntarios realizan el monitoreo telef\u00f3nico a trav\u00e9s de una plataforma llamada \u201cAsistencia COVID\u201d, donada por el Ministerio de Salud. Y es el gobierno del Municipio quien env\u00eda un listado de las personas a las que se les ha hecho la prueba y as\u00ed conocer casos sospechosos. De esta forma localizan a estas personas para darles seguimiento y evitar complicaciones de la enfermedad.  \u201cLo que hacen los estudiantes es llamar diariamente a las personas indicadas para contactarlas y realizar un asesoramiento; siempre hay mucho temor por la sintomatolog\u00eda que est\u00e1n teniendo, pero siempre se les explica que gran parte de la sintomatolog\u00eda forma parte de cuadros leves para que no crezca ese miedo. Por supuesto que tambi\u00e9n tenemos banderas rojas y se dan pautas de alarma a la persona para ver qu\u00e9 situaci\u00f3n puede derivar en una consulta de urgencia\u201d, explic\u00f3 Baz\u00e1n.
