HIMSS21 Digital was a hybrid event this year, with conferences in Las Vegas and broadcast through digital channels. One of the digital presentations opened a space for Latin American countries to present their advances in Digital Health.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Latin American Summit at HIMSS21 had the participation of agencies from countries such as Mexico, Argentina, Guatemala, Chile, and more. The speakers presented local and national experiences of interoperability, telemedicine application, use of data in decision making, among other topics.<\/p>

Dr. Mariano Groiso, advisor to HIMSS in Latin America, presented the panel: Interoperability: an essential key to accelerating health innovations during and after the pandemic. During this panel, detailed explanations were presented on the innovation strategies that have been applied since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Manuel Rodr\u00edguez Arce, director of the Single Digital File Department of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), explained that there are currently more than 5.4 million people in Costa Rica with a digital file, and that they have also enabled electronic medical prescriptions, to achieve more efficient drug control.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Through this system, patients can obtain medical care at any level, and the health professionals who treat them will have their complete file. It is a unified system, which has also been key during the pandemic, recording hospital occupancy in real time.<\/p>

On the other hand, in Argentina the electronic medical record has also been important during the pandemic. However, Anal\u00eda Baum, director of Health Information Systems of the City of Buenos Aires, explained that the connectivity strategy through fiber optics and more than 500 free Wi-Fi access points have been essential during the COVID-19 outbreak. 19 and maintain order in the capture of epidemiological data. In this way, it is possible to notify positive cases on time, as well as the occupation of beds in intensive care and, more recently, the monitoring of the vaccination campaign. \u00a0<\/p>

El HIMSS21 Digital fue un evento hibrido este a\u00f1o, con conferencias en Las Vegas y con transmisi\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de canales digitales. Una de las presentaciones digitales abri\u00f3 un espacio para que pa\u00edses latinoamericanos expusieran sus avances en Salud Digital. El Summit Latinoamericano en HIMSS21 cont\u00f3 con la participaci\u00f3n de agencias de pa\u00edses como M\u00e9xico, Argentina, Guatemala, Chile, y m\u00e1s. Los ponentes expusieron experiencias locales y nacionales de interoperabilidad, aplicaci\u00f3n de telemedicina, uso de datos en la toma de decisiones, entre otros temas. Durante este panel se presentaron explicaciones detalladas sobre las estrategias de innovaci\u00f3n que se aplicaron desde el inicio de la pandemia de COVID-19. Manuel Rodr\u00edguez Arce, director del Departamento de Expediente Digital \u00danico de la Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS), explic\u00f3 que actualmente hay m\u00e1s de 5.4 millones de personas en Costa Rica con expediente digital, y que adem\u00e1s han habilitado las recetas m\u00e9dicas electr\u00f3nicas, para lograr un control m\u00e1s eficiente de los medicamentos. A trav\u00e9s de este sistema, los pacientes pueden obtener atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica en cualquier nivel, y los profesionales de la salud que los atiendan contar\u00e1n con su expediente completo. Se trata de un sistema unificado, que, adem\u00e1s, ha sido clave durante la pandemia, al registrar el tiempo real la ocupaci\u00f3n hospitalaria. Por otra parte, en Argentina la historia cl\u00ednica electr\u00f3nica tambi\u00e9n ha sido importante durante la pandemia. Sin embargo, Anal\u00eda Baum, directora de Sistemas de Informaci\u00f3n Sanitaria de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, explic\u00f3 que la estrategia de conectividad a trav\u00e9s de fibra \u00f3ptica y m\u00e1s de 500 puntos de acceso a wifi gratuitos, han sido fundamentales durante el brote de COVID-19 y mantener orden en la captura de datos epidemiol\u00f3gicos. De esta forma es posible realizar a tiempo la notificaci\u00f3n de casos positivos, as\u00ed como la ocupaci\u00f3n de camas en terapia intensiva y m\u00e1s recientemente el monitoreo de la campa\u00f1a de vacunaci\u00f3n.   En Chile, han destacado la aceleraci\u00f3n de la transformaci\u00f3n digital y la adopci\u00f3n de nuevas tecnolog\u00edas. Erick Cortez Pinto, jefe de departamento de Gesti\u00f3n TIC de Metropolitan Sur de Chile, explic\u00f3 que: \u201cLa pandemia logr\u00f3 una transformaci\u00f3n digital de la noche a la ma\u00f1ana. Se vio la necesidad desde la comunidad, la poblaci\u00f3n exigi\u00f3 un cambio y debimos integrar sistemas de informaci\u00f3n y entregar servicios de salud de formas innovadoras\u201d.
