The HIMSS21 Global Conference was held from August 9 to 12, and one of the most important issues addressed by the speakers was the democratization of health technologies and equitable access to them. <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Technological tools, especially in Digital Health, usually seek to solve specific problems, however, they are not always focused on the needs of the people affected. This was one of the recurring themes at HIMSS21, one of the most important innovation and Digital Health events in the world. This year it was held in a hybrid way from Las Vegas, NV and digital conferences.\u00a0<\/p>

Dr. Azizi Seixas, assistant professor at New York University's Langone Health, explained during one of the presentations that developing the most innovative solutions based on Artificial Intelligence can become innovation in vain if people cannot or do not have the tools to use that software and take advantage of it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Reenita Das, vice president and health specialist at Frost & Sullivan, for her part, explained that it is necessary for medical care systems to continue to update and continue to open spaces for representation to all people. The specialist gave as an example the importance of women being studied proportionally in clinical trials, and also that there be representation of different ethnicities.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In another Seixas intervention, he explained that the creation of health agendas and research tools must have the participation of people from the beneficiary community. \u201cWhen you co-create a tool, the community will tell you that the design has to be a certain way, the cost has to be a certain way, and the spread and deployment have to be a certain way,\u201d he explained.<\/p>

They also addressed issues such as the obstacles presented by young companies specialized in Digital Health. And, above all, as Das explained, the need to build health systems beyond hospitals, and take it beyond so that all people can receive medical innovations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Del 9 al 12 de agosto se realiz\u00f3 la Conferencia Global HIMSS21 y uno de los temas m\u00e1s importantes que abordaron los ponentes fue la democratizaci\u00f3n de las tecnolog\u00edas de salud y el acceso equitativo a estas. Las herramientas tecnol\u00f3gicas, especialmente en Salud Digital, suelen buscar la resoluci\u00f3n de problemas espec\u00edficos, sin embargo, no siempre est\u00e1n centradas en las necesidades de las personas afectadas. Este fue uno de los temas recurrentes en el HIMSS21 uno de los eventos de innovaci\u00f3n y Salud Digital m\u00e1s importantes del mundo. Este a\u00f1o se realiz\u00f3 de forma hibrida desde Las Vegas, NV y conferencias digitales.  El Dr. Azizi Seixas, profesor asistente en New York University’s Langone Health, explic\u00f3 durante una de las ponencias, que desarrollar las soluciones m\u00e1s innovadoras y basadas en Inteligencia Artificial, puede llegar a ser innovaci\u00f3n en vano si la gente no puede o no tiene las herramientas para utilizar ese software y sacarle provecho. Reenita Das, vicepresidenta y especialista en salud de Frost & Sullivan, por su parte explic\u00f3 que es necesario que los sistemas de atenci\u00f3n medica contin\u00faen actualiz\u00e1ndose y sigan abriendo espacios de representaci\u00f3n a todas las personas. La especialista puso como ejemplo la importancia de que las mujeres sean estudiadas de manera proporcional en los ensayos cl\u00ednicos, y adem\u00e1s que haya representaci\u00f3n de diferentes etnicidades. En otra intervenci\u00f3n Seixas, explic\u00f3 que la creaci\u00f3n de agendas en salud y herramientas de investigaci\u00f3n deben contar con la participaci\u00f3n de personas de la comunidad beneficiada. \u201cCuando co-creas una herramienta, la comunidad te dir\u00e1 que el dise\u00f1o debe ser de cierta manera, que el costo debe ser de cierta manera y la difusi\u00f3n y la implementaci\u00f3n deben ser de cierta manera\u201d, explic\u00f3. Tambi\u00e9n abordaron temas c\u00f3mo los obst\u00e1culos que presentan las empresas j\u00f3venes especializadas en Salud Digital. Y, sobre todo, como explic\u00f3 Das, la necesidad de construir sistemas de salud m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los hospitales, y llevarlo m\u00e1s all\u00e1 para que todas las personas puedan recibir innovaciones m\u00e9dicas.
