Amazon Web Services (AWS) collaborated with the Electronic Government and Information and Knowledge Society Agency (Agesic) of Uruguay to develop a vaccination schedule system.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) appointed Agesic as in charge of developing an appointment scheduling system for the vaccination process against COVID-19. For the creation of this system, they used AWS cloud services.<\/p>

The system was developed in record time, completing production in two days. Through this, the population can request an appointment for vaccination, schedule a specific time and day, and finally attend the immunization.<\/p>

\u201cWe overdimensioned the capacity of the system. The cost was low for that level of capacity and guaranteed that the system could register requests from 800,000 people without any setbacks,\u201d explained Gabriel Hern\u00e1ndez, director of Infrastructure and Operations at Agesic.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Salud.uy platform, part of Agesic, has been part of the MSP's strategy to deal with COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. Since the beginning of the health emergency, the MSP has developed various digital strategies, such as chatbots through WhatsApp or Messenger, however, the challenge of creating a vaccination request management tool was different.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The GeneXus company was one of the technology service providers that participated in the design and development of the system. "Together with Agesic's technical areas, they analyzed what the current problems were and what would be the ideal architecture to guarantee the optimal functioning of the schedule request system for the vaccination campaign in Uruguay," explains AWS.<\/p>

The protection of user data was a fundamental aspect in the creation process, however, it was also necessary to review the legislation to know the regulations on the use of the cloud. Finally, the system complied with the legislation and Agesic requested approval from the Uruguayan Personal Data Control and Regulatory Unit.<\/p>

In this way, by adopting AWS services, it was possible to register more than 800 thousand requests from people. \u201cThrough the new system and its various channels (web, WhatsApp and app), all people are always attended to, enter their data and remain on the waiting list, so that later, in a coordinated manner, the quotas are assigned respecting the order request\u201d, explained Pablo Orefice director of Salud.uy.<\/p>

Also thanks to the system it was possible to know the exact percentage of progress in vaccination against COVID-19 in Uruguay; plan logistics throughout the country, and streamline the process.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Amazon Web Services (AWS), colabor\u00f3 con la Agencia de Gobierno Electr\u00f3nico y Sociedad de la Informaci\u00f3n y del Conocimiento (Agesic) de Uruguay para desarrollar un sistema de agenda de vacunaci\u00f3n. Para la creaci\u00f3n de este sistema, utilizaron los servicios de nube de AWS. El sistema fue desarrollado en tiempo r\u00e9cord, al completar su producci\u00f3n en dos d\u00edas. A trav\u00e9s de este, la poblaci\u00f3n puede solicitar una cita para vacunaci\u00f3n, agendar una hora y d\u00edas espec\u00edficos, y finalmente asistir a la inmunizaci\u00f3n. “Sobredimensionamos la capacidad del sistema. El costo fue bajo por ese nivel de capacidad y garantiz\u00f3 que el sistema pudiera registrar solicitudes de 800.000 personas sin ning\u00fan contratiempo”, explic\u00f3 Gabriel Hern\u00e1ndez director de Infraestructura y Operaciones en la Agesic. La plataforma Salud.uy, parte de la Agesic, ha sido participe de la estrategia del MSP, para hacer frente al COVID-19 desde el comienzo de la pandemia. Desde el inicio de la emergencia sanitaria, el MSP desarroll\u00f3 diversas estrategias digitales, como chatbots a trav\u00e9s de WhatsApp o Messenger, sin embargo, el desaf\u00edo de crear una herramienta de gesti\u00f3n de solicitudes para vacunaci\u00f3n fue distinto. La compa\u00f1\u00eda GeneXus, fue uno de los proveedores de servicios tecnol\u00f3gicos que participaron en el dise\u00f1o y desarrollo del sistema. “En conjunto con las \u00e1reas t\u00e9cnicas de Agesic hicieron un an\u00e1lisis de cu\u00e1les eran los problemas actuales y cu\u00e1l ser\u00eda la arquitectura ideal para garantizar el funcionamiento \u00f3ptimo del sistema de solicitud de agenda de horas para la campa\u00f1a de vacunaci\u00f3n en Uruguay”, explica AWS. La protecci\u00f3n de los datos de los usuarios fue un aspecto primordial en el proceso de creaci\u00f3n, sin embargo, tambi\u00e9n fue necesario revisar la legislaci\u00f3n para conocer las normativas sobre el uso de la nube. Finalmente, el sistema cumpli\u00f3 con la legislaci\u00f3n y Agesic solicit\u00f3 a la aprobaci\u00f3n a la Unidad Reguladora y de Control de Datos Personales de Uruguay. De esta forma al adoptar los servicios de AWS, fue posible que fueran registradas m\u00e1s de 800 mil solicitudes de personas. \u201cA trav\u00e9s del nuevo sistema y sus diversos canales (web, WhatsApp y app), todas las personas son atendidas siempre, ingresan sus datos y quedan en lista de espera, para que posteriormente, de forma coordinada, se asignen los cupos respetando el orden de solicitud\u201d, explic\u00f3 Pablo Orefice director de Salud.uy. Tambi\u00e9n gracias al sistema fue posible saber el porcentaje exacto del avance la vacunaci\u00f3n contra COVID-19 en Uruguay; planificar la log\u00edstica en todo el pa\u00eds, y agilizar el proceso.
