The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), in Quintana Roo, Mexico, will start a pilot program of digital consultation for diabetic, hypertensive and chronic degenerative patients.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The IMSS seeks to provide an accessible service through the implementation of consultations using telemedicine. The IMSS Digital Consultation pilot program in Quintana Roo will be carried out synchronously through video calls between doctor and patient.<\/p>

Dr. X\u00f3chitl Refugio Romero Guerrero, head of the IMSS in the state explained that this modality is part of a national strategy of the Institute. It is designed so that beneficiaries who have difficulties attending an in-person appointment can receive the service remotely. The program has been implemented in four Family Medicine Units (UMF), No.11 and 13 in Playa del Carmen, and 14 and 16 in Cancun.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The service is aimed at patients living with diabetes, hypertension and other controllable chronic diseases. These are follow-up consultations to maintain contact with the specialist. If in the consultations it is established that a physical examination is necessary, the patient must attend a traditional consultation, in this way the service can be mixed depending on the needs of the patient, the doctor will determine if his physical presence is required or not.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

This modality has also been made available to patients who tested positive for COVID-19 and are recovering at home. Consultations last approximately 15 minutes and are geared toward patient monitoring and general checkups.\u00a0<\/p>

El Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), en Quintana Roo, M\u00e9xico, iniciar\u00e1 un programa piloto de consulta digital para pacientes diab\u00e9ticos, hipertensos y cr\u00f3nicos degenerativos. El IMSS, busca brindar un servicio accesible a trav\u00e9s de la implementaci\u00f3n de consultas usando telemedicina. Est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ada para que los derechohabientes que tengan dificultades en acudir a una cita presencial, puedan recibir el servicio de forma remota. El programa ha sido implementado en cuatro Unidades de Medicina Familiar (UMF), la No.11 y 13 de Playa del Carmen, y la 14 y 16 de Canc\u00fan. El servicio est\u00e1 dirigido a pacientes que viven con diabetes, padecen hipertensi\u00f3n y otras enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas controlables. Se trata de consultas de seguimiento para mantener contacto con el especialista. Si en las consultas se establece que es necesario una revisi\u00f3n f\u00edsica, el paciente deber\u00e1 atender a una consulta tradicional, de esta forma el servicio podr\u00e1 ser mixto dependiendo de las necesidades del paciente, el m\u00e9dico determinar\u00e1 si requiere su presencia f\u00edsica o no. Esta modalidad tambi\u00e9n ha sido puesta a disposici\u00f3n de pacientes que dieron positivo a COVID-19 y se encuentran recuper\u00e1ndose en su domicilio. Las consultas duran aproximadamente 15 minutos y est\u00e1n orientadas hacia el monitoreo del paciente y realizar chequeos generales.  Los consultorios de las cuatro UMF fueron dotados de servicio de internet, equipo de audio como aud\u00edfonos y micr\u00f3fono y un software para realizar videollamadas.
